Book Reviews of Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt: A NovelBook Review: The Humanity of the Divinity Summary: 4 Stars
This is my first Anne Rice book. I had heard of the vampire tales and seen the movie, so I approached this book with some apprehension. It was unwarranted. Regardless of the actual history, her approach is respectful. She does a good job of explaining how the conclusion that "I am the Son of God" might be reached, reasonably, by the one experiencing that conclusion.
I'll definitely be reading more of these books. They bring a new dimension to my faith.
Book Review: Christ the Lord-Out of Egypt Summary: 1 Stars
Totally light-weight reading. I expected something better from Anne Rice. There are some things that should be left as a "mystery", like the boyhood life of Jesus. His character is so much bigger than this book does or could protray. I was planning on reading the next book, but definitely not now. My 8 year-old granddaughter has read better books than this except maybe the names aren't as difficult to pronounce.
Book Review: Christ the Lord Out of Egypt Summary: 5 Stars
This was an excellent book. Easy to read with a great deal of information about Jewish life in the time of Christ. Great visual images about the country in which Christ traveled as a boy. Although fiction, Christ the Lord, Out of Egypt indicates that the author has done extensive research into the life and times of the setting of the book.
Book Review: Out of Egypt - Anne Rice Summary: 3 Stars
This is the fictional story of Christ's childhood from his, a child's, perspective. While it may be educational for those who do not realize that Christ was Jewish, it clearly is fiction hanging on a skeleton of "fact". It is an ambitious and brave project for Anne to take on, and I find it somewhat boring.
Book Review: Starts really well but a little slow towards the middle/end Summary: 2 Stars
This book started out really well, but halfway through, I found it lacking in excitement and story line...Although the research involved in this book appears to be extensive, it looses a little bit of the story line, focusing too much on Jesus thoughts...Not a bad read, just a little slow..
