Book Reviews of City of Ashes (Mortal Instruments)

Book Review: Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm not sure what every one's problem is. I thought the book was great, with a lot of action and suspense. There's even a tease at the end to get readers wanting more.
***SPOILER ALERT****
Okay all you goobers out there that don't read and comprehend at the same time. Don't you get it? They are not brother and sister! The novel is chock full of hints...Jace does not look anything like Clary, her mother, or Valentine. Valentine tells Clary his blood travels through her, but tells Jace he has the blood of angels. The fae queen tells them she knows a secret about them, then tells Jace to ask his father about his parentage. The Inquisitor looses her son and his wife (who is seven months pregnant)yet their bodies are missing. Hmmm...I wonder what happened to that unborn child? Gee, I don't know? Perhaps if I wasn't a moron I could figure it out. Then the Inquisitor dies saving Jace's life.
***end of spoiler****
Okay, sorry for my tyrant...uncomprehending complainers seem to be a pet peeve of mine.

Book Review: Great sequel, can't wait for the third installment!!
Summary: 5 Stars

The sequel to City of Bones (Mortal Instruments) is great! I thought this book was great, in it's character development and story line. In this first book, you were only privied to Clary's point of view. However, in the second book you get story told from Jace, Clary, Simon, and newcomer Maia. I think this was fantastic, because you were able to see how Jace saw Valentine and how hard it is for him to turn his back on his father. You are also able to see how feels about Clary. In the first, you knew how she felt about him and you figured he felt the same, especially in the end, but in the second, you knew exactly how he felt.

The chapter with the Seelie Court, the next 3 chapters, and the ending chapters are the best of the whole book and leaves you with many questions. I can't wait to see if some of my ideas turn out to be true or if they, like all my other ideas, fall flat. A must read for any paranormal fan.

Book Review: Better than Harry Potter?!
Summary: 5 Stars

When asked about this novel, I keep saying I think it could be better than J.K. Rowling's infamous Harry Potter series. It's true! Even reviewers on the book's covers seem to agree. Clare creates a novel that's so filled with action, drama, teenage angst and other things that you don't want to put it down. (At least, I didn't!)

As the middle installment of a trilogy, I was afraid it would be boring and slow-going. But it wasn't. I was immediately sucked into after the first few pages, remember why I loved the first book, City of Bones, so much.

The book is filled with smaller storylines that wrap together to create the overall plot, but you won't be confused as you're reading it. Everything does fall into place.

If you haven't checked out City of Bones yet, I highly recommend you do. (It's not in paperback.) It's definitely worth the read. I keep recommending it to everyone!

Book Review: Terrific read
Summary: 4 Stars

I was surprised by the number of negative reviews because I found this to be an original and exciting series. Despite some of the dialogue trying too hard to be "kewl" at times, I thought the plot was excellent, the world well developed and intriguing, and the writing to be first rate. Clare's descriptions of places and characters are terrific and sometimes beautiful, particularly in this installment (it was more uneven in the first). I really like all the characters, I care about them, despite some of them occasionally being annoying - but that's like real people. And I'm impressed with the chance she has taken with the main love story (I don't want to put a spoiler here) - it takes some courage to promote a love story like that. I like the chances that Clare takes and can't wait to read City of Glass!

Book Review: OMG!
Summary: 5 Stars

WELL FIRST OF ALL THIS SERIES IS WORTH A READ. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT IT IS HOW ITS A LIL PREDICTABLE BUT AT THE SAME TIME THE AUTHOR THROWS IN AN UNKNOWN FACTOR THAT MAKES EVERYTHING GO HAYWIRE!

THIS BOOK IN PARTICULAR WAS VERY EXITING AND TAKES YOU A BIT DEEPER INTO THE SHADOWHUNTER WORLD. GIVES YOU THE HISTORY AND ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS WHILE THE ACTION IS HAPPENING. I WISH THEY COULD INCLUDE MAYBE A PICTURE OF A RUNE OR SOMETHING FROM THE STORY CAUSE ITS REALLY INTERESTING TO READ AND TRY TO IMAGINE THE PEOPLE AND WEAPONS AND RUNES ETC. AND OF COURSE WHO DOESNT LOVE THE MAIN CHARACTERS LOVE TRIANGLE? BUT MY FAVORITE PART OF THE STORY IS DEFINITLY THE MAGNUS AND ALEC DRAMA! :-P

a GOOD READ WITH GREAT CHARACTERS. I RECOMEND THIS TO ALL
