Book Reviews of Colitis & Me: A Story of RecoveryBook Review: Read This Book... Summary: 5 Stars
... if you're suffering from a condition similar to Mr. Prasad's, are close to someone who is, or just want to read the work of a talented writer. I reviewed this book several years ago and just recently realized that my review (along with my Amazon account preferences) have disappeared. This struck me as a good opportunity to update my review and thank Mr. Prasad again for doing the grueling work of recounting his own story.
Book Review: Theis story at times feels like its actually about me... Summary: 3 Stars
This story will make you feel uplifted and hopeful. It also goes to show that no doctor knows your body better than you do and that one should trust their instincts. You are not alone in your battle and I felt so relieved to learn I am not the only one with colitis who is searching everyday for answers. It is a personal adventure which highlights the shortcomings of the 'system' and empowers the individual to fight back.
Book Review: An amazing story of recovery! Summary: 5 Stars
Colitis and Me was gripping and moving! It had all the elements of a great narrative - an innocent coming of age story combined with a struggle to overcome some of life's monsters. The motion of the book carries you up and down, in and out, back and forth, and yet it never loses you. The design of the book is truly unique on every page, and the experience of reading is enhanced by the graphic interpretations.
Book Review: comforting for those with IBD. Summary: 3 Stars
This book provides a good resource for those suffering from IBD. It was a great comfort to know that someone else had gone through something so similar to my own experience. It was a little disappointing that the writer did not detail his experience with the SCD diet further (ie, problems he may have encountered etc.) However despite this I often reach for this book on bad days for some much needed motivation.
Book Review: The Internet Saved his Life Summary: 5 Stars
Prasad's account of his struggle with colitis and youth was extremely well written. He took control of his life, used the internet as a resource, and mapped out his own recovery. His quest for survival and ultimate solution should be read by anyone who is currently looking for guidance. Bravo!
