Book Review: A Nice Introductory Book

Let's me first say, my background is physical chemistry and analytical chemistry, so I have a limited knowledge on pharmacokinetics. I do work in the pharmaceutical area, so I am exposed to pharmacokinetics, but never had any formal education. I purchased this textbook because I have the options (1) to take an online 15 weeks class along this book with University of Georgia and (2) to take an online test from ASHP after completion of this book. Ultimately, I was doing this for pure self-improvement, so either option is attractive. I took the latter route simply because it costs less. I paid around $20-30 to take the online exam. It basically gives you a certificate to prove you have good knowledge of the book. This actually counts as real credits for student of pharmacy. For me, it is just a nice thing to have. The book is actually short. Although the book is designed to be a textbook for a 15-weeks online course, I was able to read through it within 3 weeks, passed the ASHP test while holding a full time job. I admit that I often spent 2 hour a day (14 hours a week) reading the book and many people may not able to afford this. That being said, I am certain that most people can finish this book within 15 weeks at a very relax pace. I find the book very easy to understand and enjoyable to read. The math requirement for this book is on the algebra level, although a basic calculus level is needed to fully appreciate the theories and the math. The book often introduce equations without explanation because it tries to avoid calculus. Therefore, I often felt some equations jump out of nowhere, until I sat down and derived them. In the case you don't have calculus, you will just have to accept these new equations as facts. This in no way hinders your chance of solving the homework or exam questions, although you may feel less satisfied. The book has a few typos, especially during the "Exercises and Problems" sections, but nothing too bad. Finally, it is more expensive than other pharmacokinetics books on the market.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who is new to pharmacokinetics and want a short, enjoyable introductory book. It is also great for refeshing knowledge. However, it is a rather simple book for people who already had studied pharmacokinteics.
