Book Reviews of Conspiracy Game (GhostWalkers, Book 4)

Book Review: Just keeps getting better
Summary: 5 Stars

This second series from Christine Feehan is still going strong. I have gotten a little tired of her Carpathian series but the problems with it certainly don't stem from her writing ability. She can still pack a punch and this newest in the GhostWalker series never slows its pace from beginning to end.

Many have already given the plot analysis so I won't go into that. Ken and Jack Norton are genetically enhanced soldiers who are also identical twins. For me this was the most enjoyable aspect of the book. I loved their camaraderie and obvious love and devotion toward each other. The dialogue between them is realistic and funny and will make you wish you too had a twin you could banter telepathically with all day long. When Jack's preconditioned mate comes into their lives they open their arms and hearts to embrace her and the three of them make a family that will melt your heart. And once melted these scarred warriors will steal the puddle. Feehan obviously does a lot of research for these books because the details of combat scenes are so realistic you will feel the bullets flying by.

The only negative I found in this book was the three of them being slow to realize a bug had been planted IN Briony leading the bad guys to her over and over. Someone of Jack's caliber would have thought of that first thing. But the book is so good I can forgive her trying to slide that one by us. And the best thing is that I can continue to read about the brothers since Ken is up next for his HEA. Fortunately I already have it on hand so as soon as I closed one I could open the next one. I recommend you buy them as a pair because I bet you'll want to do the same thing.

Well done, Ms. Feehan, well done.

Book Review: Trust no one
Summary: 5 Stars

Warning: If you decide to read the first book, have the others waiting for you on your nightstand because you won't be able to wait to read the next book. This is actually my favorite of Feehan's series and I have read everything of hers I can get my hands on. In this one, with each book she reveals a little more of a complex scientific experiment with human paranormal abilities that has been going on for years. From the first book we know the experiment has been repeated at least once but were there other times and other subjects? Where are the subjects of the original experiment? And do they know what was done to them? There are betrayals of everything the characters believed was true. There may be conspiracies going on at the highest level of government - maybe more than one government. With each book, Feehan peels back another layer and reveals to the reader that the sheer scope of the project was even greater than we thought. The characters - not innocent pawns, but strong, smart people, are ultimately flawed each in their own way. These characters, each subjects of the experiment, are endowed with special paranormal abilities (we readers have all secretly fantasised about having such powers.) Feehan shows how those abilities would inevitably come only at a price to the human body. The characters must fight the effects the experiment has had on their systems, they must work out the flaws in their natures to form friendships and romantic relationships, and they must work together to figure out what was done to them, what was the true purpose of the experiment, and who amongst the others, changed like themselves, can they trust. It is an exciting, fantastic, and totally addictive series.

Book Review: exhilarating paranormal romanic thriller
Summary: 4 Stars

Twins Jack and Ken Norton share a psychic skill that enables each to protect the other especially since they work for the military. When Ken is captured by the enemy, Jack keeps in contact with his sibling and leads the recovery effort. However, he is caught too, but manages to escape his incarceration, but still must find a way out of Kinshasa in the middle of the Republic of Congo.

Jack senses another GhostWalker nearby, but is shocked that this person is a female. Briony Jenkins sense Jack too as she travels with her four adopted brothers in their family circus. Her emphatic skills have always led to her suffering from the pain of others, but when she meets Jack she feels something different for the first time. She helps him escape, but not before they make love; leaving her pregnant and vulnerable to an evil foe who wants top control mother and unborn.

The fourth "Game" thriller is an exhilarating tale that showcases why Christine Feehan is one of the best authors writing paranormal romances in the twenty-first century. The lead couple struggle to survive both falling in love and a malevolent adversary with powerful connections. Neither trusts anyone beyond their respective siblings, but to endure they must have faith in the other though meeting a GhostWalker of the opposite sex is a shocker. Ms. Feehan has Game with her latest winner.

Book Review: Surprisingly good.
Summary: 5 Stars

First off, let me say I've been a long time Christine Feehan fan, and there have been some books I've loved, and others I thought were eh, alright.

This book I absolutely adored. I'm going to go home and read it again.

For one thing, I liked the fact that the characters have Issues at the beginning of the book, and at the end of the book they still have the same Issues, but they have learned to deal with them. Nobody goes through a personality conversion to something completely different. Everyone is the same, only better and happier.

If you haven't read a Christine Feehan book before, this is a good one to start with. The romance is HOT! There's enough background history given so that you understand what's up, without dragging down the story. And the characters are well rounded and have realistic flaws.

If you are a longtime fan, this is the best one in the series. Jack Norton is a bad ..... at the start of the book, and he's still scary as all get out at the end. He doesn't become a rolly-polly teddy bear. And Briony is a strong woman who doesn't realize it. It's a very authentic story (even though there is telepathy and psychic powers (grin)).

PS I can't WAIT for Ken's story.

Book Review: Delightful!!!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Let me say that I was hesident to read this book, much less buy it. After the disapointment of Gators story, I was more than uneasy about continueing with the series. However, I was so wrong! The book was an absolute delight! I loved reading about Jack Norton and Briony Jenkins romance. There was heat, passion, and there was clear love between the character. The story line was fast paced, and you learned more things about the enemy Dr. Whitney than in any of the other Ghostwalker books. The family relationship between Jack and his twin brother Ken was touching and very believably written. I have to say that the only part that sort of turned me away from the book was the very discriptive scenes of torture at the beginning of the book. I felt it was a little unnecessary. Other than that, I give this book the five stars it deserves. A great job, and a necessary part of any Christine Feehan's fan collection.
