Book Reviews of CrossBook Review: This book was engrossing. I read it in 2 days Summary: 4 Stars
I thought the author did a great job of involving the reader in the mind of a killer. It was such a fast paced interesting book. D.C was an interesting backdrop and the protagonist seems like someone who you would want to know. I read in some reviews that it was "unrealistic" but there's this insistence lately that movies and books have to be part-documentary. I read this book to be be entertained not to wonder if it could be copacetic to a forensic and criminal expert. It is graphic and violent but I think a person attracted to this genre of reading knows to be prepared and it may even be why some people are reading it. I don't feel it's gratuitous. It's necessary to know what the character is up to.
Book Review: A thriller for dummies Summary: 2 Stars
If you are not a very demanding reader and are only looking for some entretainment in a long flight, this book is for you.
However, if you appreciate a well-crafted storyline and characters with some psychological depth, look elsewhere. Patterson's style - three page chapters always ending on cliffhangers - gets old very quick and simply does not allow for the type of more elaborate plot that many readers (myself included) are looking for in a crime/thriller novel. Agreed, there is a lot of action, but it's all simply too straightforward, predictable and shallow. This was my first Patterson and I'm not coming back for more.
Book Review: Unreadable Summary: 1 Stars
This is my first James Patterson book, and I won't be back. "Cross" is so poorly written, I am unable to read it. "Cross" reads like the product of a junior-high "creative writing" exercise, padded with extra words and full of exclamation points, so the reader will know this is the exciting part! The characters are less than one-dimensional, if that's possible. The story is childish. How does this level of writing get published, or find an audience?
Book Review: used book james patterson's CROSS Summary: 3 Stars
First time I bought a used book from this seller the book was a good price but condition was not great.
Pages of book were dirty, like they had eaten on the book and left the scrums in the books pages. (greasy too)
readable, but would not be buying again for a bargain.
thanks

Book Review: It Was OK Summary: 5 Stars
This was an ok read by Mr. Patterson. I find that he dwells on things from the past too much and does not get on with the story. He seems to just want to fill up the pages with things that have nothing to do with the story line. Just write the story and leave the things out that don't pertain to it.
