Book Review: Shallow all the way

I put down this novel about a third of the way through, a rare occurence for me and enough to prompt me to write my first-ever review. I truly don't care about Lilly or any of the other two-dimensional characters (or their social affairs or what label of clothing they wear or how they decorate their homes). I'd much rather learn about the characters and see them interacting in a well-paced plot. Kellogg offers neither, telling us rather than showing us anything. Lilly, like her creator, seems simply to be a shallow woman with far too many biases. And anyone who has ever been to Wyoming knows better than to believe her setting!I'm a Westerner too, but she brings out the worst of the West. I read the first book in this series and planned to read the others. While the first one was weak, this one isn't worth the waste of time. There are far better female detectives out there who are actually multi-dimensional and become involved in a plot that keeps us turning the pages. Lilly Bennett isn't one of them.
