Book Review: Another manual - just more detailed with confusing and overlapping information

I'm starting out on dSLR photography. All of my previous cameras have been point-and-shoot. I bought this book thinking that this will show me how to take great pictures - not with just any camera but - exclusively with my Canon Rebel T1i. I never purchased this book thinking that it was going to be another 300-page camera manual with repetitive information.
Even though I am new to professional photography, I am not new to digital photography. So the first few chapters were completely useless (for me) because all they had were huge images of camera's different parts showing you how to insert its battery or where to plug in its USB cable, etc. - which is kind of lame. I'm not sure how many people wouldn't know how to plug in a USB cable these days. But maybe I'm a minority I thought, and I continued to read on.
I found so much of the same information repeated throughout different chapters. The author goes into different features of the camera without giving you scenarios in which you might use those settings. More importantly, even though the book is full of pictures, very rarely does the author provide pictures as examples to compare different shooting modes and settings so you can understand what they mean.
Like the first few chapters, I found the last few chapters also useless because they were more about setting up a studio, information about different flashes including those giant studio lights, and lenses. I understand this could be important down the road but for right now, all I want to know is how to shoot with what I've got.
If you're looking for a more detailed manual or user's guide, get this book. It goes over every single mode, feature, and accessories of this camera without fully "teaching" you how to shoot. But if you want someone to show you how to shoot great pictures with your T1i, this book is not for you. I think the title of the book should not have included the words "Guide to Digital SLR Photography". It's just a guide to Canon Rebel T1i and its accessories.
If you're like me who is enough technically-savvy to know how to insert a battery or plug in a USB cable, but don't know what all these different buttons and shooting modes on the camera dial mean and what settings you should be choosing based on different lighting situations, get one of these other books instead. They teach you the WHY, the WHEN and the HOW of professional dSLR photography:
