Book Reviews of Dawn (California Diaries, No. 1)Book Review: Great Book Summary: 5 Stars
This is a good book I've read it twice. I like how Ann used handwriting in this book instead of type it was great! It was like a real diary. Dawn mostly writes about changing buildings at school, her family and her california friends. What I didn't like about this book is that Dawn never mentioned her BSC friends its like the everoprated into thin air. She only mentions Mary Anne a couple of times. Also theres a part in this book were they think Jill is babyish just coz she wants to look in the pet shop what the? I'm 19 and still love looking in the pet shop. And whats wrong with Jill liking that kind of stuff they are only 13 for crying out loud not 18!. The part were they snuck off to the party was great. And its great Ann finally had something about this. And it was annoying how they thought that Jill was a baby just coz she didnt want to sneak out and diaspoint her parents. This is a good book.
Book Review: What Happened to Dawn?! Summary: 1 Stars
I love the Baby-sitters Club Series, and Dawn is my favorite baby-sitter, so I decided to try the California Diaries Series about Dawn and her friends in California. So I checked out DAWN, California Diary #1. It was terrible, absolutely terrible, and it made me very upset. Everything is Dawn, Dawn, Dawn, Dawn this, Dawn that. It is filled with some very inappropriate things. The Baby-sitters Club Series is NEVER like that. In this book, I also found words I'm not allowed to say. I was so ashamed of this book that I just stopped reading it. If you could rate books, this would be PG-13, so don't even THINK about buying this novel for a ten-year-old. I am very frustrated with this volume. How can you do this to my favorite baby-sitter, Ann M. Martin?! :-(
Book Review: I luv California Diaries Summary: 5 Stars
I love this book. Dawn moves back to California and is going through a lot of changes. She is moved to a high school building, her stepmom, Carol is pregnant, she makes new friends, Amelia and Ducky. Plus her old friends changes. Sunny starts acting wild, Maggie is obsessed about being perfect, and Jill is immature and childish. Dawn breaks her friendship with Jill at the end of the book. I don't get it. During the BSC books with Dawn, Jill seemed mature. She was quiet and shy, but she was serious and a good listener. She reminded me of Mary Anne. But in this book, Dawn described that Jill was a baby who loved teddy bears and unicorn stickers. But it was a good novel and a lot better than the BSC.
Book Review: A great difference from the BSC Summary: 5 Stars
At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but I read the reviews and I wanted to see how it turned out. Now I have to agree with most of everybody else: BSC is too unrealistic. The story focuses on everyday life, especially teenage problems which have something to do with High School. It seems refreshing to know that Dawn has a side different than the one shown in the BSC books. I think it's sad that Jill had to break it off with Dawn, even if she was babyish they could have tried to worked things out, but just like Dawn wrote, she wasn't sorry enough to patch things up. Now I'm getting hooked on the entire series and I'm looking for the Dawn's Journal 2 in local shops...
Book Review: Awesome Book! Read this Review to find out more about it! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is a story about Dawn from the BSC series by Ann M. Martin. Inside, Dawn is living in California, and all of her friends are changing, so fast that she can not keep up with them. In the form of Dawn's journal, it tells not only events in her life, but her feeling about them. I particularly enjoyed this book because I could easily relate to the situations that Dawn found herself in. It was very interesting to see how another person feels about middle school, and peer pressure. I would definately reccomnd this book to young adults that enjoy realistic fiction storys. I'm sure, however that just about any reader would enjoy Dawn's journal. Enjoy!!!
