Book Reviews of Day by Day Armageddon (A Zombie Novel)

Book Review: A Fast Food Zombie Book - not great, but good for a quick bite
Summary: 3 Stars

Nothing really new or groundbreaking in this book. The only interesting idea, without hopefully giving too much away, was the affects of radiation on zombies.

Being written in a journal format makes it easy to read an entry, go do something else, come back and read another, go do something else, repeat. I finished the book in two hours while scanning some documents. While books like World War Z and the Morningstar Virus books spank this one, I have come across some zombie stinkers much worse than this book.

I have some issues with the fictional author of the diary being military and spending his time cleaning guns and lamenting his situation instead of modifying his environment or making more use of the knowledge that fire will kill the zombies. If you have time to lean, you have time to clean.

Book Review: Dull + Flat + Boring = This Book
Summary: 1 Stars

Don't understand why so many people rated this 5 stars on Amazon!! Journal format makes this flat and without any dimensions at all. The author spent too many pages on preparations, finding foods, cleaning guns, looking for transports....! What's the most wanted elements in Zombies novel?? Excitement, Tension, Suspense, Dramatic!! Where is it?? Summed up there may be only 5 to 10 pages are worth reading!!
The main character seems a very lucky man, when he's around the "supposedly zombies infested streets" there's only handful of zombies wandering. And he doesn't have to fire many shots but just out run them and always found a secure places to stay!! I don't see any point of reading this novel. Totally waste of time and money. Just pick any decent zombie movies will be a lot better than this!!

Book Review: journal?
Summary: 2 Stars

Overall I did enjoy this book. However I feel it should have had more of a journal feel to it. It should have been handwritten, it should have had doodles in the margins, and it should have been more rambly.
It was too polished. When you write a journal you aren't writing for anyone but yourself. You don't need to tell yourself about what you already know.
Also, a pilot who can fly jets could easily fly a Cessna.

My biggest complaint is that at the end (SPOILER) he felt bad for killing people? Its the end of the world, people are trying to get to your survival mechanism. Its kill or be killed, so if you wipe out 50 rednecks who are dumb enough to drive their fuel tanker onto your site then they deserve it.
I enjoyed it, but it could have been much better.

Book Review: Awesome first person survival
Summary: 5 Stars

The new trend seems to be long reviews. Some of them are even too long for most newspapers :)

Simply put, this is one of the top three post-apocalyptic books I've read. If you are a fan of military tactics, aviation, Romero style zombies, OR survival books, you'll enjoy this. Even though the zombies are traditional, Bourne created a new and convincing world.

If I had to note one thing I didn't like, it was the journal style. It's a believable journal through more than half of the book, but toward the end there's too much written daily (or every couple of days). Most actual journal or diary entries are brief and introspective. In the second half there's too much of a narrative of actual events to be realistic. Even so, it's a fun ride!

Book Review: Intense, Gripping and Completely Unforgettable
Summary: 5 Stars

Day by Day Armageddon is a masterpiece of survival horror. This fictional diary of a man's struggle to stay alive in a post apocalyptic world full of the shuffling(and not so!)undead will chill you to the bone. The incredibly taut tension in this book of "no where to run to, nowhere to hide" jacks the suspense meter up to almost unheard of levels. The action is fast and furious with bullets flying, bodies falling and many hair raising escapes. I've read Max Brooks World War Z as well and while worthwhile it just didn't generate the type of "edge of my seat" feelings Day By Day Armageddon did. Yes the cover is cheesy but that's really the only bad thing i can say about it. If you're looking for some new horror to read i can't suggest this book more you'll love it.
