Book Reviews of Devil May Cry (Dark-Hunter, Book 11)Book Review: Finally Summary: 5 Stars
The Story
3000 years ago Sumerian god Sin had his powers stolen from Artemis. Since then he hunts the gallu demons. They were created by his pantheon, but now that it no longer exists Sin and his twin are responsible. The gallu demons make daimons look like kittens. The gallu demons are plotting to release the Dimme demons. That would be the extinction of mankind. Katra is sent by Artemis to kill Sin, but she realizes her mother lied about Sin. Katra jumps into helping Sin. Together they must find the key elements to reseal the Dimme and stop the gallu.
Thoughts
This book is very touching, because Ash FINALLY, after 11000 years, meets his daughter-Katra. Why they kept her from him for so long just pisses me off, I can't fathom keeping that kind of secret. It did make for a very emotional reunion tho. Sin is such a good man, he just keeps things very close to the vest. Katra has made appearances throughout the series, so it was nice to finally get the whole picture. The creativity of new demons introduced was new and refreshing story. The pace is fast and content captivating. I wish there was more of Katra, sin and Ash interaction. This book also sets up more for the book Acheron. Katra fills a huge hole in Sin. It is a very memorable book in the series.
Book Review: Kat and Sin Summary: 4 Stars
I like this book and how it answered quite a few loose ends about Ash, but since I did come upon this series late I have the fun advantage of cherry-picking books from it. This is probably the reason why I'm not all that disappointed about Acheron's book and what came after it. But this book is really good despite the fact that the main characters are less human and more gods who are still influenced by love in their own godly lives. This actually got me thinking how is it that LOVE is not a curiculum in basic education if it fixes everything? Is KNOWLEDGE really is power? Maybe it is knowing how to love or loving the knowledge. This is really a fun way of re-learning mythology and then some. I highly recommend the entire series in however way you want to read it.
As far the characters in this book I was kinda hoping Zakar and Kytara would have an HEA.
Why can't this book be in kindle?
Book Review: Kenyon rushed through this one Summary: 3 Stars
I love the Dark Hunter series and have been reading it from the first book. But sadly, the further into the series you get, the more the books seem rushed and just silly. This one in particular felt like it was just churned out like "product." It is lacking character development and the heroine, Katra, acts absurd in several parts -- for example, making wise cracks when her beloved guy is grieving over the tomb of his daughter. Every scene feels rushed, like Kenyon just wants to tell you what happened rather than take the time to weave the imagery and draw you in. I don't mind the stories being formulaic as long as they are well done and the author puts in the work to really describe the characters and evoke images and feelings. In this installment, it feels like Kenyon was rushing to push out more product to sell. I hope the next book in the series is better.
Book Review: The Best Yet Summary: 5 Stars
This is the best Dark Hunter novel so far! If you haven't read all the previous books in the series, you may not enjoy or understand this one so well. For those avid readers of the series, this book packs a punch! Sin is a former Sumerian God who lost his powers to Artemis. There is still some tension there! He meets Katra, who was first introduced in Kiss of the Night. The two have to battle a series of Sumerian demons who are able to turn humans to demonic minions by biting them. Along the way we learn that there is a past between Katra and Acheron (the Dark Hunter leader) that is quite a surprise! This is a fast-paced and exciting book. This is one of those pivotal books in a series where you learn so much about the characters, and even more questions are posed. The best Dark Hunter yet!
Book Review: Hot as "Sin" Summary: 4 Stars
Another winner in Kenyon's endlessly imaginative and sexy DArk-HUnter series. The 11th novel, "DEvil May Cry", is the story of Dark HUnter, Sin, an ex-Sumarian god turned DArk HUnter with the fate of the world in his hands, an axe to grind with the greek goddess, Artemis, and a serious growing crush on Artemis' daughter, Kat Agrotera. The story is the usual delicious caldron mix of gods, goddesses, daimons, charonte demons, gallu demons, dream hunters and the ultimate salvation of a broken, but hunky, DArk Hunter through the power of selfless and unconditional love.
YOu'll also get a tasty dose of Acheron (Ash) and further unraveling of his ongoing relationships with his Dark hunters, "Artie", and an important "new" character in his life. All and all, very entertaining. Enjoy !
