Book Reviews of Divine Justice (Camel Club)Book Review: Best Yet in This Series Summary: 5 Stars
Having assassinated the two men who had been inhibiting his freedom, John Carr becomes the target of a high-stakes manhunt involving the highest levels of the U.S. government, prompting Joe Knox to launch a frustrating investigation that tests the resources of the Camel Club. BT.
David Baldacci has yet to disappoint me with any of his novels. In fact this one is my favorite in the 'Camel Club' series. I had a great time reading this fast and highly entertaining thriller. A feel good adventure that true Baldacci fans will find much to there liking. I am highly looking forward to further adventures.
Book Review: FROM A NEW DAVID BALDACCI FAN Summary: 5 Stars
This is the very first book I've read from David Baldacci. I realize, after reading DIVINE JUSTICE, that I have missed out over the years!
DIVINE JUSTICE is not just any CIA novel. It takes twists and turns, from a turn to rural Virginia to a prison that would have been scary even during Medieval times to illicit drug trafficking. Oliver Stone, the man from the "Camel Club," is the most wanted man in America, accused of killing a senator and a big wig in the intelligence community.
This book is sure not to bore. I am a new Baldacci fan, thanks to DIVINE JUSTICE.
Book Review: Well paced story Summary: 4 Stars
David Baldacci has a way of moving a story along at a very rapid pace. This keeps you interested in the story when you might have put down a similar story by another author. Too many authors take a good story and mire it down with excessive characterization or scene setting. Not Baldacci. He gets to the point and never allows his prose to become the focus of his novels.
On a secondary note, Baldacci and his wife sponsor a literacy foundation that makes grants to reading programs across the country. It is wonderful that he gives something back to reading communities.
Book Review: Good But Not Great. Summary: 4 Stars
Divine Justice, as the other Camel Club books, is an exciting read. As other reviewers stated it does remind me of Lee Child and one of my favorite characters Jack Reacher. There are two plots that we know will come together at the end. As the story unfolds it becomes like old home week with characters from earlier Camel Clubs joining in.
Having said all of this I felt the dialogue was not as sharp as the earlier efforts. It was less of a Club effort and the club members were not as believable. It was a fair Baldacci but a good mystery by most standards.
Book Review: Disappointing, and unsatisfied. Summary: 2 Stars
First, I've read many of his books and enjoyed them. The Camel Club was a five star book. Characters were wonderfully captured and was thrilled that he was writing a series using each of the club members. However, with each book thereafter, I was disappointed. Too many unbelieveable scenarios. This particular book also held too many characters and really were uninteresting and an unsatisified plot and ending. Even my beloved Camel Club members themselves were a dissapointment. I will always remember the first book and each of the characters and their uniqueness.
