Book Reviews of Down RiverBook Review: I know, I know... Summary: 3 Stars
it won the awards. But I was just annoyed with our hero, so driven, allegedly, by anger that he acts stupid...many times. When a simple question, or two, could address issues and solve problems, the fact they aren't asked drives me crazy. If we are to believe this is a smart individual, he has to act accordingly.
Book Review: Unreachable Characters Summary: 3 Stars
Hart's mystery is good but for those who have read many many mysteries one will easily figure this out early on. I didn't connect with the characters, not much depth, and the story trudged in spots. Speaking in female perspective only, I expect more from characters and plot than what this book gave me.
Book Review: AMAZING READ Summary: 5 Stars
This is the second book I have read by John Hart and it was a wild wild ride! The characters are rich, the scenes vivid, and the action non-stop. It's definitely a book you can't put down. You steel time out of your busy day just to find out how it turns out. I can't wait for the next Hart book!
Book Review: Good, Not Great! Summary: 4 Stars
John Hart is a good storyteller. The book is well written and he does a nice job tying up the many loose ends. That said, I thought that this was overly melodramatic with somewhat cliched characters. While certainly worth 3 or 4 stars, I am very surprised that this won the Edgar Award.
Book Review: Down Gutter Summary: 1 Stars
A terrible thriller. I can't believe it won the Edgar award. The great Allan Poe must be rolling in his grave. Ludicrous characters are heavy handedly entwined in a preposterous plot. The writing is awkward and the whole thing is actually a soap opera of the lowest kind. Skip it.
