Book Reviews of Easy SushiBook Review: Shopping suggestion Summary: 5 Stars
I don't have this book yet, but I do have a word of advice for sushi-makers: there is a chain of Japanese supermarkets in the US called Mitsuwa. They are on the west coast & in Chicago, and may be in other places as well. They have EVERYTHING; it's almost more like a mall than just a supermarket. Frozen foods, fresh produce, packaged foods, a special pickle department, and a seafood department. Definitely NOT inexpensive seafood, but much of it is specifically meant for sushi/sashimi and is marked as such. And even if you're not a sushi maker--go. The place is an adventure!
Book Review: Not what I expected Summary: 3 Stars
Well - EASY isnt exactly the word I would use to describe the recipes in this book. I got this as a gift for my sister who recently starting attemping her own sushi rolls. I was expecting the most basic recipes, instead these called for caviar, squid, and all kinds of other unusual foods that are nearly impossible to find unless you live near a fish market. There were a few good recipes and some of them she may be able to substitute a more common fish for something more exotic, but all in all, if I had to do it over again - I would get a different book.
Book Review: Everything you need and then some Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this book for my sister for Christmas, and after spending quite a bit of the holidays flicking through it I went out and bought myself a copy. I already own a sushi cookbook and have taken sushi making classes but this book renewed my interest. It has good recipes, interesting new ideas (egg cup sushi is something I am defiantly going to try), shopping sources, and it has plenty of colour photos showing methods and just generally making it look great.
Book Review: Easy Sushi Summary: 5 Stars
This is my favorite sushi making book. Aside from the beautiful photography, it is a well written book for any person who wants to prepare sushi at home. It is extremely well priced for the quality it contains. If you are a sushi lover it is a must buy.
Book Review: It's ok Summary: 3 Stars
I thought it would be a little easier then it presents it's self to be, You need a ton of supplies before really going anyware with this book, so it adds up. But besides that the receipes are great.
