Summary: 4 Stars

"Thank you for writing about Einstein," I heard a man say to Walter Isaacson on "Book TV" several weeks ago. "Well he was a fascinating guy," Isaacson responded, as if he had been delivered a personal message from the gods of hagiography to write a biography on the man. That sense of eagerness is what makes this book so much fun; Isaacson's joy of discovering the universe is contagious.

During his presentation, which was not even on Einstein, I was struck with the normality of Isaacson's personality; he seemed approachable and lacked the the brashness or imperiousness that one typically associates to the historian that writes large works on figures like Kissinger and Einstein. But a historian he is, and a good one at that.

Book Review: best einstein book out there
Summary: 5 Stars

This is hands down the best Einstein book available today. The author goes above and beyond any expectations i had. He some of the best research i have ever seen in a book. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

I have read several Einstein books and this is the absolute best. It covered everything i have read in the other books and went far beyond that.

The author (Isaacson) makes this book very easy to read and follow (although he does use a lot of scientific terms, which he has to). I really couldnt put the book down.

If you're looking for an excellent book about the life of Einstein from first-hand research this is your book. And the price can't be beat. I thought i would be spending 30+ but its less than 20 anywhere. ENJOY!

Book Review: Very well written...bravo
Summary: 5 Stars

Biographies of scientists are rarely balanced; they are either focused on their science on completely on everything but their life's' work. Walter Isaacson's book does a wonderful job of telling his life story like a story. You almost feel like growing up with Einstein through this thinking, his childhood troubles, his teenage loves, his professional struggles, his family struggles, evolution of his thinking on scientific matters and reflection of his philosophy of life and science.

Additionally physics is introduced in a very approachable manner and can be understood by most laymen. I highly recommend this book if you want to know Einstein as a person and understand how he discovered his revolutionary theories.

Book Review: The last book on Einstein?
Summary: 5 Stars

Many books have been written about Einstein, this might be the last.

How could a more authoritative biography be written? The explanatory notes, bibliography, and index runs over a hundred pages! Yet for all the details, the story stays fresh -- even dramatic.

The personal life of Einstein is recounted with honesty, and compassion. The scientific principles involved are explained clearly, but without undue over simplification.

Simply put, if you are at inteterested in reading a defintitive and facsinating biography of one great personas of the 20th Century, this book is a definite buy.

Book Review: Takes an Einstein to Enjoy

Einstein: His Life and Universe
This book was a struggle for me to read. It was a commitment once started that I had to finish. I personally found it only interesting from the standpoint of how scientist were viewed in his time. They were the most popular people on earth. However, in many parts the book read like a textbook and the story was pieced together. I did finish with a very good understanding of his life and his beliefs. It is okay to read, but not particularly entertaining.
