Book Reviews of Everybody's Guide to Homeopathic Medicines

Book Review: Nothing is as good as homeopathy!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful reference on the time-tested healing art of homeopathy. The book starts with an overview of the scientific basis of homeopathy, developed in the 1800's by Samuel Hahnemann. Hahnemann was free to formulate this therapeutic system without the modern intellectual burden of knowledge of the existence of atoms, bacteria, or viruses. Don't believe those nay-sayers who claim that diluting a medicine in water a gazillion times just leaves you with plain water. Hahnemann knew his business.

The majority of book is dedicated to explaining how to use homeopathic medicines to treat a variety of illnesses as safely as if you were using a placebo pill. I've been using this book personally, and I've had fantastic success. Recently, I had a rather nasty cold. After treating it with the remedy described by the book, I recovered from my ailment after just a week! If I had gone to an MD, he probably would have prescribed some expensive chemotherapy or something. That's why I'll never again trust the money-hungry AMA or that "double-blind clinical trial" malarky. Give me some irritants - diluted in water to the point of absence - instead.

Truly, nothing is as good as homeopathy.

Book Review: A must for every household!
Summary: 5 Stars

My aunt gave me this book about six months ago. It has been sitting on my shelf for most of that time as I tinkered with a few Remedies here and there. Well, a particularly fearsome strain of something was knocking down my coworkers right and left - and finally got me too. So... while I was in misery at home I decided to start reading this book. I read through the whole intro (yes, some parts of it may not be easy to grasp) but then flipped to the different subjects further back and started going through them. Guess what! Not only did I find my (near) perfect match for a remedy, I happened to already have it and began taking it immediately. I was back at work the NEXT DAY!!! Most of my coworkers who got whatever it is were out for 2 - 10 days!!! This book is really useful and homeopathy really does work for me and my son; hope you give it an honest try too (especially with great reference works like this!)

Book Review: Good layman's reference
Summary: 5 Stars

We've only had this book for a few months and it's dog-eared already. Granted, since then, we've been overseas and back so we're a little predisposed to being stressed out and sick. Disclaimers aside, it's been a fairly comprehensive guide to combating colds and other problems -- even a first-degree burn. It has a very helpful section on casetaking and is well-organized. It's not exhaustive, but it serves its purpose well -- as a guide to situations which arise most often in the home. It tells you when to seek outside help and what to do yourself. It also gives suggestions to go along with the remedies (the use of ice, heat; when to make rest a priority) and explanations (what's the definition of a croupy cough). I'd say if you had to choose only two books on homeopathy for your library I'd recommend this and the Materia Medica.

Book Review: One of the best home based homeopathy books
Summary: 5 Stars

Each time this book was reprinted since the 1980's, I've bought the new editions and liked each one even more! I give it to all of my friends new to homeopathy. The chapters focus on specific ailments (sore throats, accidents and injuries, headaches, digestive problems, etc.) and have leading questions to ask the patient to help you find the correct remedy for the acute ailment. There are cautions about when you need to call a health care provider for an illness. And there are enough remedies described that you most often will find the one that will work. It's just a very helpful book and a good introduction to the wonders of homeopathy. I have shelves of homeopathy books, but I often start with this one if one of our family is sick.

Book Review: I wish they would have sent me the newer version..
Summary: 3 Stars

I am not mad at the book however I am mad at the time it took for my book to arrive also the fact that they sent me the wrong version. I am not sure if there is a difference but I imagine the newer version may have corrections and such. So I am a bit disappointed. I also wish the book was set up differently, I was looking for more like a dictionary and a bit more history. Also a bit more info on why and how. I am aware it will take a lot more research, I feel this book definitely did not answer my questions. I will work with this book for now until I find a better book on Homeopathic Meds...
