Book Reviews of Face ForwardBook Review: Amazing Summary: 5 Stars
Kevyn Aucoin is amazing! The transformations in this book are awesome. Martha Stewart into Veronica Lake. A man into Linda Evangelista. Gwyneth Paltrow into James Dean. I like this book even better than Making Faces. Kevyn Aucoin turns makeup into magic, and he does it brilliantly. It's also very educational to someone who's studying beauty, as has individual sections dedicated to different effects, different parts of the face, different tools, etc. This book is very entertaining, and also very helpful. I love it!
Book Review: FACE FORWARD AUCOIN Summary: 5 Stars
This book CAPTURES talent, vision, and ability to create such mind blowing beauty. It also shows a number of his works, creations, and clients the people he has worked with over the course of his career. I have all of the books related to him and recommend them all to anyone who is in advertising, fashion, beauty, and commercial art industry. His story is one of struggles and accomplishments. It is tragic that we lost this brilliant, intelligent, inspiring individual, it is evident that he was just getting started.
Book Review: Book of Magic Summary: 5 Stars
This is an amazing, BEAUTIFUL, almost magical book of transformations. Anyone who can turn the domestic Martha Stewart into a truly sultry goddess has my vote. The makeup to create the different looks is a very interesting study and can even help you modify your own style to emulate someone you perhaps idolize. It's also interesting to note just how much eye makeup the old Hollywood stars must have had on! Kevin has done it again. I recommend this for anyone who loves to have FUN with makeup!
Book Review: Kevin's book is a true reflection Summary: 5 Stars
of racial/ethnic/ideological diversity of world's women. His very cover used two women from different racial/ethnic groups to show the world that beauty is more than just the usual Nordic blond haired, blue eyed women that mainstream media is so fond of. Mr. Aucoin does not stereotype women of color as either "exotic," "ethnic," or "global," as mainstream publications and photographers do today. It's all about the inviduality of today's women. So, Mr. Aucoin, please keep up the good work!
Book Review: Superb, just like his others! Summary: 5 Stars
Kevyn Aucoin is more than a makeup artist, he's a magician. A true artiste, he takes both everyday people and celebrities we're all accustomed to seeing, and turns them into someone completely different. The pictures are amazing, and the step by step instructions are simple and clear. The one thing the book doesn't provide are specific names and colors of the makeup that is used, so it can be hard to emulate the looks. However, despite that, it's still amazing to look through!
