Book Review: Pleasant reading

I recommend this book. Ms. Delinsky is a good writer - the dialogue was authentic - and I was caught up in the family drama. We are compelled to think about what might be hidden in our own family tree and the devastation of keeping secrets from those we love. The element of knitting in this book makes it of interest to knitters but the story stands well on its own. When the main character worked on her knitting, I itched to get to my own projects. However, I didn't want to put the book down and read it quickly to know how it all turned out. This book was a delight, and by the end, I wanted to own my own yarn shop.Book Review: What an interesting read! Highly recommend`

This book is amazing!
What a fabulous book!
This is the first thing I have read from this author.
I throughly enjoyed each page. I read it while flying to China from the US, and what is usually a long flight was too short. The plot was amazing. I had to keep reading to see what would happen next.
What you will learn is that no one is really pure-bred, we are all a mixed up race. We are bits and pieces of every race.
If you like studying geneology, you will LOVE THIS BOOK!
I certainly enjoyed it and recommend it to everyone!

I agree with the latest reviews. There was something lacking in this story. Usually with this author, I am guaranteed to be taken from my own world of sunny California, and into the lives of the New Englanders I grew up with. It just wasn't there. Hugh started thinly and never redeemed himself after requesting the DNA test, and the other characters weren't fully formed. It smacked too much of a book written on a deadline, and not enough of an author enjoying her characters and weaving a great storyline.Book Review: Disappointed!

I have been a Barbara Delinsky fan for years. But this book dissappointed me. It seemed to have ended abruptly. I wanted more resolution . . . what happened with Dana and her family (I wanted her to meet all her siblings), what was the teaser with Earl? Did the Senator acknowledge and get to know his son? Too much left hanging! Perhaps there were too many sub-plots for any to be developed better. Barbara, what were you thinking?Book Review: family tree was a wonderful book

this was my first book that I have read by Barbara Delinsky. I read it in 2 1/2 days. I couldnt put it down! I would highly recommend this book for what it is, a book about a couple who love each other and find out african american genes are soley visible after their child was born. Learning about family secrets and how secrets have a way of coming out. It is great and I look forward to other books she has written.
