Book Review: Stupendous - "That's a fancy word for great."
Summary: 5 Stars
This book was so sweet that it actually brought tears to my eyes while I was reading it to my little girl. It is just such a touching and adorable story. Some reviews have said it sends a bad message for little girls but I just don't see how that can be when the overall message is love and understanding. I've read it to my 3-year-old daughter a zillion times and she hasn't wanted to turn me fancy or redecorate her room. In fact, if anything it's made her a little more clever. Now whenever someone says a big word she doesn't understand she asks, "Is that a fancy word?"
I love the book so much I want to share it with all of my friends and I have already pre-ordered the next Nancy book!
Book Review: Fabulous book for my 3 year old daughter!

I bought this book for my daughter's 3rd birthday. She absolutely loves this book! Great illustrations and a fun story. She will request this book to be read to her. I have to talk her into reading another book just so we aren't reading "Fancy Nancy" 7 days a week. This book is interactive in the sense that there is soooooo much detail to the illustrations that you can spend so much more time on the pictures than just the words. I would recommend this book to all little girls that have a good imagination or need to spark their imagination. I think this will be a good book for my daughter for years to come! Fancy Nancy is a young girl who thinks more is more and is somewhat stuck in a family of plain folks. This picture book tells a simple, sweet story, but the illustrations and personality of Nancy are what lift the book to the status of children's classic.
Girls who love tutus, jewelry, tiaras, feathers, boas, sparkles, pink and purple, butterflies, glitter -- in other words, most little girls we know -- identify with Nancy as she minces through life trying to make things more gorgeous. And yet, the story never becomes superficial and shallow. The fancy stuff is fun, and we love Nancy, but her family's love, plain and strong, is the backbone of the book.
Highly recommended.

My 3-year-old daughter pulled this one off the shelf at the library and loved it so much we had to buy it. In fact, she has decorated her room with beeds and boas since reading this book. She loves to be fancy and there is nothing wrong with that. She is, in fact, a little girl. She is never disrespectful or unhappy with her family because of this book and it seems a bit over the top that someone would go as far as to say this book teaches children to be that way. It is a fun and beautifully illustrated book that we love to read together. In fact, we have all the Fancy Nancy books and have bought them for her grandmother who is "Fancy Nancy" herself and she loves them just as much!Book Review: Every little girl needs this book!

My only regret is that I can only give this book 5 stars, because it surely deserves at least 10! This is the sweetest story of a little girl that tries to reform her parents' "not so fancy" ways. My daughters love Nancy's fancy words and clothes, and I love the way the parents in the story embrace Nancy's personality and play right along with her. A wonderful story about values and family.
This is my three-year-old's new favorite book. My six-year-old loves it too, and has actually learned a lot of new vocabulary words due to Nancy's use of "fancy" words. This mom definitely gives two thumbs up on a well written and wonderfully illustrated book.
