Fancy Nancy loves to be fancy, but her family is very plain. Nancy gets an idea. She will teach her family to be fancy. They all dress up in fancy clothes and go out to eat at a restaurant. Everyone turns to look at them as they enter. "Maybe they think we are movie stars," thought Nancy.
Nancy uses fancy words like: fuchsia, plume, stupendous, and accessories.
Any little girl who likes to play dress-up will enjoy Fancy Nancy.

Book Review: Fancy Is As Fancy Does!

I bought this beautiful book for my fancy 3 year old granddaughter, Mary Mace, and she absolutely LOVES it. I read it first and now I want my own copy! The illustrations are magnificent---vibrant, alive and dazzling on every page. The story is educational and instructional. Nancy loves everything fancy from pink boas to sparkling tiarras and high heels....but alas, her family is plain. So Nancy decides to give them "fancy" lessons to which they willingly comply. In the end, Nancy comes to realize that plain is not so bad, either, as long as your loved. This is a light-hearted, well-told story which I highly recommend for girls of all ages.Book Review: Not just for Girls!!

I debated weather or not to check this book out at the library, since I have two little boys. I do searches for the top childrens books since we go to the library every week and I was starting to run out of titles I knew. This book was always on the top best books. So I thought why not get it. I read to my boys they loved it. It wasn't all girly. This book explaned how to be fancy, and how to use words that made you sound fancy. My boys laughed at many of the words. Since their "Gran" is from New Zealand and uses many of the terms that Nacny used to sound Fancy. Mostly older English words. Anyhow I would recommend this book!Book Review: Loved, Loved, Loved this one!

Fancy Nancy is a book I can relate too, even thirty plus years after being a little girl who would have LOVED to have my "fanciness" appreciated by my family! I appreciate the wisdom and creativity of our little protagonist - she is a good peer role model for the young picture-book set.
I am buying two copies - one for my seventy-three year old mother who is a "Fancy Nancy" herself and also for myself... my children may borrow it to read, but I will keep it in my room to read-aloud and laugh and laugh and laugh!
Oh - a special nod, too, for the "fancy" illustrations. Loved each and every one.
Book Review: What a Fun Way to Grow a Child's Vocabulary

I originally bought this book because my sister's name is Nancy. I read it to a class of pre-K children. They delighted in Nancy's "fancy" words for everyday things and the wonderfully exotic and sparkling pictures in the book.
This book can definitely enhance a child's vocabulary while helping them relate to a little girl who is different than the rest of her family. I found that the young girls seemed to like the book better than the young boys.
Luckily, my sister Nancy is becoming a grandmother for the first time and will have a grand-daughter she can share her Fancy Nancy books with!
