Book Reviews of Fantasy Lover

Book Review: Oh...My...God....
Summary: 5 Stars

First,a question: Where can I get my own Julian of Macedon? I want! Okay, now that I've let the hormones do the talking: the review.

This was an incredibly inspired and imaginitive book. I read it in about six hours, taking into account bathroom breaks and snack attacks, because I was so sucked in. I couldn't put it down.

Basically, Julian of Macedon is the son of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love. After the murder of his family, his jealous brother cursed him into a scroll, that was later bound to become a book. The terms of his curse are that whenever a woman holds the book to her chest and calls his name three times under the light of a full moon, he is destined to be her full-time love slave until the next full moon.

Now, enter Grace Alexander: sex therapist who hasn't had sex in four years. For her 29th birthday, her friend buys her the book, hoping it will help her and her case of what Selene (the friend) refers to as Teflon panties. Grace doesn't believe it, but calls him anyway. And boy, does she get him.

Sherrylin does a good job of developing the story from there, showing how poorly Julian has been treated since being cursed, why Grace doesn't want sex, and the developing relationship between the two. It isn't always a happy story, and is even very painful at parts, but I'm sure you will love the book every bit as much as I did.

Happy Reading!

Book Review: Greek demigod comes to life
Summary: 5 Stars

The Story:
Grace Alexander is a psychologist that was greatly hurt by a boyfriend in college. She has been unable to get close to a male since. Her concerned friend, Selena, sets out to fix things. She finds a book that has a Greek/Spartan love slave in it. All you have to do is call his name three times. Drunk on her birthday Grace appeases Selena by calling his name. Much to her surprise she finds a naked gorgeous man in her house after Selena leaves. Grace doesn't know what to do with Julian. She doesn't want another one night stand. Once learning more about Julian she sets out to have his 2000 year imprisonment ended. She is the first to treat him as a human being instead of a slave. Julian doesn't know how to deal with that treatment, he doesn't want to feel.

Thoughts:
Sherrilyn Kennyon is a fantastic paranormal romance writer. This book is fast paced and fantastic. This is the beginning of the Dark-Hunter series. Grace and Julians connection is passionate and romantic. Julians background and the interaction with the Greek Gods is very entertaining. I enjoy catching up with Grace and Julian in the further Dark-Hunter stories. I've read all this series, I just now re-read this book, it was just as entertaining as the first time. I rarely re-read books, this series is just exceptional! I highly recommended book and series. The rest of the series only gets better and better.

Book Review: A hard act to follow..
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is sooo..... good. Amazon recommended this author to me but I was unable to find "Born of the Night" so I picked up "Fantasy Lover" instead. I never even heard of Sherrilyn Kenyon, boy have I been missing out, she is an excellent author.

Four years ago when Grace parents died, she gave her virginity to Paul who used her to win a bet. She felt used and could not see how anyone could find pleasure in what Paul did to her. Her best friend, Selena aka gypsy wannabe wants to help Grace get on with her life, sex life that is.

Julian's brother, Priapus has cursed him for having sex with one of his virgins and put him into a book where he remains until he is summoned, at midnight of a full moon, to pleasure a woman until the next full moon. For two thousand years (while in the book) he can hear but is lonely, in pitch darkness and struggles with the constant pain of hunger and thirst. Julian believes he is an unlovable outcast and has been struggling to fit in all his life-until he is summoned by his saving Grace.

Grace, a sex therapist, was not the super model type of character that is the norm in most romance novels, this was a plus. Julian of Macedon, the love-slave is the man of every woman's fantasy and draws women like a magnet. Though a swarm of women camp around him, he has eyes for only Grace. Magically they come together but is it true love or is it the power of the curse?

Book Review: SAVE YOUR MONEY
Summary: 1 Stars

I am being "kind" giving this book a one star rating. I ordered this book and the other seven that follow it based on the many reviews that I have read here...and after reading it, or should I say "scanning" it because it was almost too painful to read, it had to be, without a doubt, the most ridiculous book I have ever read. The characters were unbelievable and the story was unbelievable and the dialogue was actually so juvinile and sophomoric that I can actually equate it some creative writing papers that I have assigned over the years to my HIGH SCHOOL students! Here is a "fat" Ph.d, using lines like,"I'm not your cooking wench, push me buster and I'll serve you Alpo." Is that believable to say to a hungry God that just popped out of a book ten minutes before?
Ludicrous! The story is also unbelievable in that this beautiful bronze Spartan general, a magnificent specimen of a man or should a say half god, comes out of this book after being cursed, and lusts after this overweight sex therapist that is still "smarting" over the fact that some guy named Paul took her virginity as a bet five years prior. And let's not forget her best friend Selena, who also has a Ph.d but sits at a card table reading tarot cards on a corner in New Orleans...is this for real!? I love this genre of book but if you want to read a real story from a real writer read Kresley Cole. She has the magic!

Book Review: Oh my what a book!
Summary: 4 Stars

I loved this book! It was so captivating that I read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down.

The story really is of a fantasy lover come to life but only for 30 days. The heroine is a modern day career woman, a Sex Therapist. She is in realy need of a man and her best friend has found one for her. He's a Greek god in a book. All she has to do is summon him and he will be her love-slave for 30 days. Perfect right? Wrong. Grace doesn't want a man, or least her mind doesn't her body has other ideas. She does it on a lark and is shocked right out of he socks when he actually shows up, naked and willing to pleasure her right then. Julian has been trapped in the book for 2000 years by his half brother Priapus. Julian is the half human half God son of Aphrodite. He is betrayed and ends up in the book only free when he is summoned for 30 days of pleasuring. He has dark demons which he has suppressed and is completely baffled when Grace wants to help him confront them. He also doesn't quite understand that she doesn't want him to make love to her and wants him to wear clothes and even go outside. This has never happened to him and it has got him off kilter.
...
This was a very refreshing story and I eagerly await future books. This was filled with tons of humor, very very steamy love scenes and very tender parts that had me crying. I loved it and will read it again and again.
