Book Reviews of Femalia

Book Review: INTERESTING BUT NOT ART
Summary: 3 Stars

I was interested in seeing what other vulvas look like as we are all different. I was amazed to see the diversity in their appearance and felt much better about my own. "It's not so odd looking after all!" However, from an artistic approach it was lacking. It is point-blank. The camera is placed a few inches from the vulva, lips spread and that is it. The same for all 32 shots. No lighting techniques, no poses, no description of the person. Just a picture of the vulva which isn't art, in my opinion. I like the book and am going to keep it but because I think it is a nice self-esteem booster and I think it is awesome that women can finally view the vulva with no shame involved and without a pornographic meaning behind it.

Book Review: I love my Vulva
Summary: 5 Stars

I really enjoyed watching it, I have only glanced through it the first time, but it was exiting to see different colors, shapes, piercings. As a woman I have never gotten to see that many vulvas, maybe 3 including my own in a mirror.
It is really enjoyable and I like it that is non threatening, not pornography, it is what it is, and I feel that is very needed and refreshing. Female genitals are not outside, straightforward like males, so, you never really get to see it even if you are in a room full of naked women, Femalia is a good tool to know more about yourself and if you don't know anything, it will be a good tool to start knowing something!

Book Review: An Important Work of Art
Summary: 5 Stars

A number of reviewers here have objected to the classification of the images in 'Femalia' as art, on the grounds that they fail to measure up to their aesthetic ideals. But art, as any public gallery worth the name will attest, is far more than mere pretty pictures.

True Art challenges one's worldview. And 'Femalia' certainly does that. It is a brave and lonely voice challenging the contemporary view of the female body, so overwhelmingly submerged in fantasy and falsification.

This is an important work. I highly recommend it to any man genuinely interested in the female form, and to any woman estranged from her own.

Book Review: A picture is worth a thousand words
Summary: 4 Stars

So, what can be said about this "picture book". I find that the gender of the person seeing the book for the first time will make a difference. Many women don't appreciate natures expression of "that" spot. Males typically appreciate it more, although many ignore the view and are satisfied solely be access to it.

But, there is beauty in the human body if we respect it. And, as not all noses are alike, neighter are all vagina's. But, by being "different", it doesn't mean they are anything other than a different expression of that part of our body.

Book Review: Some of the Great Beauty of Nature
Summary: 5 Stars

Femalia is a wonderful collection of natures most beautiful creations. We enjoy the beauty of a womans face or figure yet fail to appreciate the beauty of her whole body. These photographs of vulvas are amazingly lovely. Some of them have almost no labia, to small labia like butterfly wings. Others are large like elegant draperies. Also, there is an amazing shades of color from, brown, purple, to pink. The soft folds of the labia and clitoral hood are so lovely... Being a man, I would love to be in a photograph book of male genitalia.
