Book Reviews of Fire Study (Study, Book 3)Book Review: Not the strongest Summary: 4 Stars
I found Poison Study and read it and thought that it was an awesome book and i loved it so i had to keep up the series but the next one Magic Study was also really good it didn't quite have as much going on and the same for this one Fire Study was a really good book and i really liked it because i already like the characters in the series but it was not as good as her first two. I was not disapointed with it but it could have been better. I think if you are a fan of the series that you should read it and to know what happens. The one part that i really was not so happy with was how Valek and Yelana didn't seem to conect as well in this one as they did in the first two. But it was still a really good book.
Book Review: Dissapointing addition to an otherwise good series Summary: 2 Stars
The first third the way through the book I really enjoyed it, and I was thinking what was up with all those negative reviews. Then I found out! The story became cumbersome, bogged down and uninteresting. I struggled to finish the book and almost didn't except that I flipped the back and read the ending to make me want to finish the middle. A big disappointment after reading Poison Study (which was great) and Magic Study (which was good). It's almost like the author's editor went on vacation 1/3 the way through the book. And I didn't like the way Yelena and Valek's relationship was handled. There weren't enough interactions and the few that were there seemed superficial and flat.
Book Review: Terribly disappointing Summary: 1 Stars
What a let down after the great start made with Poison Study. I found Magic Study was okay but not as good, and now the writing in Fire Study is just too lackluster to keep my interest. Also, the characters seem flat and the situations they find themselves in strike me as kind of stupid. I don't know what happened with the author but I get the feeling that she only wanted to pump out the story and didn't even enjoy it herself. Normally I can slog through a slow start if I think the story will improve, but the other reviews lead me to think it won't be worth it for Fire Study. I got through about 90 pages and have decided this book is going back to the library unfinished.
Book Review: Fire Study (Study, Book 3) by Maria V. Snyder Summary: 4 Stars
A super conclusion to the series (of 3 books). Fantasy readers will enjoy the mix of magic, intrigue and good story line with a decent conclusion. The first two are better as the last tends to summarise the previous books which can bore you when you just what to get on with it.
It won't appeal to everyone especially if they are stuck in the rut of thinking that magic can only be this way or that way.. open your mind and enjoy a different tale...
Overall.... All three books are highly recommended.. Find a cosy corner with a comfy chair and ready yourself for a weekend of reading - start with book 1 and read them through in sequence....
Book Review: Going from Love it to Leave it! Summary: 2 Stars
I absolutely LOVED Snyders's first book POISON STUDY. A very unique twist to the storyline, the dynamic tension of good and bad and all the gray in bewteen. I could hardly put the book down. Her next book MAGIC STUDY, was OK. I had so looked forward to it, and got through the book, enjoyed it, but felt a bit disappointed. I had really high hopes that FIRE STUDY would go back to her first telling, but no such luck. I've tried to read it a couple of times, but it just doesn't draw me in, I am confused at times and have to re-read portions to keep track of all the different things happening and just going to have to leave this one behind. What a shame.
