Book Reviews of Fire Study (Study, Book 3)Book Review: I'm a satified reader Summary: 5 Stars
It's strange to see so many mixed reviews. I'm sadden to know that this is the ending of the series. I hadn't even realized it was a trilogy, yet I hope Snyder might consider to continue this world at least from another character's perspective. The whole world layout is absolutely fascinating and there is so much more that can be done with it.
I thought the ending brought about a good closure for this book. Snyder tied off many loose ends and answered the pressing unanswered questions. Our heroine found her niche, which really, what the whole series was about. In this book, Yelena works closely with Moon Man and Leif. Of course, her soul mate shows up to help out (strange how he knows just when to arrive)--usually right when a governing body wants her head in a noose. Overall, I enjoyed this series and would definately recommend it to an adventure loving fantasy reader.
Book Review: Around page 150 it goes completely downhill Summary: 2 Stars
I read Poison Study and Magic Study and enjoyed both immensely. I read the reviews for Fire Study which are mostly bad. I decided to go ahead and read it. The first one hundred pages were good. Yes some dumb modern slang expressions that really stand out. Yes too many references to the previous books that are rather unnecessary and tiresome. But it still was entertaining and pulling. But after two thirds things start getting idiotic. For some reason Yelena is possessed by stupidity and her behavior stops making sense and its mostly annoying. Her character had always been stubborn, but within reason. But in Fire Study her behavior seems to be there just as an excuse for literary conflict rather than having a reason. It's a shame because its rather unnecessary. Anyway, yes the books disappoints and yes it is a shame because it taints the series.
Book Review: A Thrilling Conclusion Summary: 5 Stars
I don't know why this isn't getting as many 5 star ratings as the first two in the book. I thought this plot was well developed and the other stories definitely hinted at aspects of it and led up to its conclusion. The part where she is in the fire is absolutely heart-wrenching if you think about all her friends waiting for her on the other side. The first was my favorite, but this was excellent as well. The whole book may have had a lot going on, but I believe she balanced it well so that all the events made your heart beat faster as you wanted to know WHAT HAPPENED NEXT. Therefore, I give it a 5 for being a page-turner as well as a good story with great characters and a nice, satisfying conclusion (especially for the romantic storyline aspect!).
Book Review: Hands down amazing. Summary: 5 Stars
If you liked Poison Study and Magic Study, you'll love Fire Study!
I have read Fire Study, and it's definitely, by far my favorite of the series! It has a big boom of a climax and very conclusive ending. I was not able to put it down. I stayed up until 8am reading it. There is nothing else to say about this book except that it was hands down amazing. Thank-you so much Maria V. Snyder, for writing such a beautiful series. Great novels like these are few and far between.
Even though it was a VERY good ending to a series, I won't deny the fact that I was sad that the series was over. I am looking forward Opal's story in Storm Glass.
Make sure you pick up a copy. Definitely worth every penny!
Book Review: A pale and sad ending to a great series. Summary: 2 Stars
Ok, this series started out wonderfully and had great and interesting characters and a super story line. The first two books, Poison Study and Magic Study were pretty much divine. But this one, not so much. It almost seems like the author gave up (in my own humble opinion at least). The only reason I even bothered finishing this book was because I hated to leave the series so close to the end, I also believe that I was holding out in the hopes that it would get better, but was sadly disappointed. If you are one of those people who just has to know how it ends then by all means, try it for yourself. But truthfully you can get away with reading the first two and knowing that eventually everything works out in the end.
