Book Reviews of Flying Star Feng Shui for Period 8Book Review: Comprehensive Gem of a Guide for Feng Shui Period 8 Summary: 5 Stars
Lillian Too indeed is world renowned as one of the top Feng Shui experts of the 21st century. In fact, Ms. Too is also a highly prolific Feng Shui author. Her longer books go in depth into Feng Shui typically providing both a lot of illustration examples and well-structured books. "Flying Star Feng Sui for Period 8" is certainly one of those books packed with plenty of color illustrations and photo examples to reinforce and demonstrate what Ms. Too covers.
"Flying Star Feng Sui for Period 8" is what I would describe to a Western as an Advanced Beginner or Intermediate level Feng Shui book. While this book is easy to use, it is not a "Dummies" or "Idiots" book starting at the very beginning of your knowledge of Feng Shui. Ms. Too writes to an audience which is presumed to already have something of a working knowledge already of 8 Mansion (sort of like Beginners Feng Shui to lay a FS foundation) and Flying Star Feng Shui (next level of advanced knowledge of Feng Shui, incorporating the TIME dimension into Feng Shui).
Period 8, there are 20 year periods in Fly Star (Time Dimension) Feng Shui. And Period 8 (I had just started hearing about it, but had no idea what is was, hence my giving a short explanation of what it is) started Feb 4th, 2004. The book addresses the influences of Period 8 just at the 20 year level, not in a yearly sort of Feng Shui Almanac nor at the more granule levels of Months, Days or Hours.
The Chapters are:
*Introduction*
Addresses and introduces the idea of TIME PERIOD FENG SHUI, time as an additional dimension within Feng Shui, touching on your Natal Chart, Flying Star Feng Shui, the HSIA (Chinese) Calendar, and Feng Shui Annual Afflictions.
*CHAPTER ONE*
Time Dimension Feng Shui
Luck Sectors and Time Periods, Period Change as well as Other Feng Shui methods, The Ending of Period 7, What to Expect in Period 8, Feng Shui Implications in the Period Change. The illustrations Ms. Too provides in this chapter led me finally to grasp Water Stars and Mountain Stars in a Natal. This is part of what I mean in how useful the color illustrations are in addition to the beautiful color photographs (and also helpful as illustration examples). How to Analyze a Flying Star Chart (Sequence of 6 Steps which she provides.). Determining the Right Chart to Use. How to Superimpose the Chart (how to place this well over your own home's floorplan layout.). The Meaning of the Numbers (which show in the chart). The Auspicious Specials. Analyzing the Element of the Chart.
*CHAPTER TWO*
Analyzing Period 7 Charts
This is like setting the stage to reflect on the Period which just ended.
She provides charts on the different facing direction houses and cites a recommendation for certain house to Change to a Period 8 House (which she addresses more a little about what the would mean later in the book.).
*CHAPTER THREE*
Analyzing Period 8 Charts
(You are going to want to read this sort of once through completely to let it wash over your brain a first time, and then come back to what is relevant for your specific needs repeatedly, especially as a reference.) Includes the Period 8 Base Chart and about 2 pages per Facing Direction House's chart with analysis of their numbers for Period 8.
*CHAPTER FOUR*
Comparing Period 7 & 8 Charts
You'll see the significant changes that Period 8 brings. Addresses such topics as The Chi Energy of the Main Door, How to Determine Facing Direction (including some illustrations of particular challenges) and the directive to check several times (which you might not think is so important to do until you start to realize how things are different in an apartment tower, an apartment complex, and a subdivision cluster of houses with a gated entry area). Ms. Too devotes 2 or 3 pages to each Facing Direction House and what they had in Period 7 and what they will be like in Period 8. She provides the Flying Star Feng Shui 9 Grids Chart and then superimposes them on an example house floor plan. I found these to be invaluably helpful for grasping the Feng Shui concepts and deeply at this more advanced level.
*CHAPTER FIVE*
Activating Auspicious Water Stars for Wealth
Explains what a Water Star is, not just bandying the term about. With Water Brings Wealth. Activating Your Water Star 8. Swimming Pools (and Ponds). Flow of Water. Decorative Ponds. Natural Rivers and Lakes. Capturing the Chi of a River. Man Made Waterfalls. Double 8 (explains it, too) in the Sitting Place. Water 8 with Mountain 5. Water Inside the House. Water Features for the Home. Creative Water Features.
*CHAPTER SIX*
Activating Mountain Stars for Relationship & Health Luck
Explains what a Mountain Star is, also. Auspicious Mountain Stars. Bad Mountain Stars. Mountain Star 8. Activating Mountain Star 8. Decorative Walls (and uses some great photograph examples). Mountain Paintings.
*CHAPTER SEVEN*
Changing House Period
Ms. Too provides tips on points to consider before choosing to change the Period of your house, typically by renovation of some sort. And here she provides some options (not extensive as that is the not the topic of this book) for ways to change the period of your house.
Summary of Flying Star Feng Shui for Period 8Flying star feng shui for period 8 which started February 4th 2004. This is a great reference book for all the changes we can expect during our current period 8. "Since every period lasts for 20 years, it is very important to ensure that the feng shui of your house is kept up to date so as to improve your health, wealth and happiness" - says Lillian Too. Flying star is the world's most popular method of feng shui used by practitioners to check the feng shui of a property. It is a potent formula that addresses the transformation of Chi energy through the passage of time. The changing flow of chi is expressed as numbers on feng shui natal charts, which change whenever a change in period occurs. This means that the luck of a house can potentially change for either the better or for the worse during the changing of period. This important aspect of the practice of feng shui is the focus of this book. Lillian Too is one of the prominent names in feng shui today and author of over 80 books that have been translated into more than 30 languages with millions of copies sold. Her books are written in a way that is understandable to all readers ± and that is exactly her intention. She writes,®Everything is simplified so advanced Chinese astrology and feng shui is accessible to everyone, even those with no previous experience with these Chinese cultural practices.®
