Book Reviews of French Women Don't Get Fat

Book Review: WOW!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

All I can say is 'Viva la France' and 'Viva Ms. Guiliano'!!!! This book is a study in reversals....whatever you thought did not work,...works here! The foods you taught yourself to stay away from and to detest are now the very tools you will use to feel satisfied, help keep you from snacking and help you lose weight!

I now have a love affair with each and every one of my meals...and I'm losing tons of weight!!!The other day I didn't recognize the reflection in the mirror as I walked by!!It just seems so effortless and makes so much sense!!No more gyms for me, (I always found them utterly boring anyway)just long walks with my little chiwawa. My husband and I have even started to pop a few bottles of French Champagne...every now and then.

Book Review: good points, but not realistic on american ground
Summary: 4 Stars

I love this book, even though it is a bit unrealistic to implement in the US besides big cities like NY or Boston, where you actually have a farmers market and can walk everywhere. I have lived in many different countries (France included) and can honestly say that not only French women don't get fat, but I guess this is the selling point for the book. Some of the ideas are hard to grasp in the book, but I just adore the recipies, and will try some of them out for sure. One thing that is not true in the book is naming Madame Curie a French woman. She was Polish, her name was Maria Sklodowska-Curie, and she did not get rid of her maiden name after marrying Pierre Curie. I guess the French chose to forget that since she got two Nobel prizes.

Book Review: the common-sense way to approaching life and eating
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned this book for a few years now and I still enjoy reading through it even though I could easily recite all that is in it and have probably recited it to a lot of my patients. This book attempts to revive common sense and to re-teach us how to enjoy life and eating. There are no magical diet tricks and no magical ingredients: eating in moderation and exercising have always worked in losing weight and maintaing weight loss respectively. The really special attribute of this book is that it attempts to teach us the frame of mind we need to learn to enjoy eating less, savoring meals, cooking, taking the time to pick our produce, and learning to slow down a bit and be mindful of our lives.

Book Review: Changed my life
Summary: 5 Stars

This book absolutely changed my life. I was SOOO obsessed with how much food I was eating and what I was eating, I was obsessed to the point where I could not enjoy what I ate, I regretted everything "bad" I put into my mouth and just was a mess because I love food!

Then this book came along. This book showed me how to enjoy and savor food, especially in a way I couldn't before. Ms Guiliano showed me guilt free ways of eating and without it, I would still be a mess (or worse!). This book changed my life in SO many other ways as well, the way I look at things, the "little miracles"--she called it--everyday made me a brighter and more optimistic person. I highly recommend the book.

Book Review: A great book that makes you rethink your lifestyle
Summary: 5 Stars

I really loved reading this book. There is so much great and common sense information in here. I think it is all about getting back to basics. I have friends who are on "diets" that consist of salads and diet cola. If we learn to eat right we can still enjoy delicious foods! I am a big advocate of "everything in moderation". It is okay to have dessert! Portion sizes in America are way out of whack and I think that along with all the processed foods we consume are the biggest contributors to obesity! Eating better foods and seasonal foods are the way to go! This book made me rethink the way I eat and I highly recommend it!
