Book Reviews of Giada's Family Dinners

Book Review: Great Italian family-style cookbook!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This cookbook is great. I got it last week and I've already made 3 of her recipes. I've made the pasta fagioli & the escarole and bean soup. Both were so easy to prepare and delicious. I also made her angel hair timbale for my mother this mother's day. It was perfect AND quite a stunner when brought to the table! I like the cookbook because it really IS filled with simple Italian recipes that anyone can make successfully. I am of Italian heritage and her recipes are tried and true Italian meals... and anyone who watches Giada on television will know, she is as authentically Italian as a person can get! A+ from me! :)

Book Review: Good but not great
Summary: 3 Stars

There are some good recipes in this book, but too many photos of Giada and not enough of the food! I get inspired by seeing the finished product and if you are also visual this way, you will be disapointed by this book (unless you bought it to look at photos of Giada and her family). I think Giada is a good cook, but borders on the Nigella Lawson sucking on her fingers theme with all the photos going on of her clevage. The book is beautifully done and the food is good, but I think The River Cafe Italian Easy blows this out of the water. Or, go for Giada's first book which is better.

Book Review: Perfect!
Summary: 5 Stars

I LOVE this book! I'm a married college student with very little time to cook. My husband and I are both pretty health-concious, so when I do cook, I try to be careful.

Giada's recipes are so easy to follow. At first, I had to head to the grocery store because her recipes required a lot of ingredients I didn't have. But now that I've stocked up, I'm one happy cook.
The meals I've made so far are delicious--and easy to make!

I love Everyday Italian and watch it when I can. This book is an excellent addition to any Italian food-lover's collection.

Book Review: Recipes you will really make, again and again.
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't have any of Giada's other cookbooks, so I cannot compare them to this one. What I can say is that this (Giada's Family Dinners) is a cookbook you will actually use, not just look at the pictures. The recipes show how simple and easy to make real Italian food can be. If you love to cook, you'll enjoy working with fresh ingredients to make really tasty main dishes and other recipes. The chicken marsala is a real winner - ditto the winter minestrone. I look forward to working my way through all of the recipes, then back again. Thanks Giada!

Book Review: "My Boyfriend Thinks I'm a Professional Chef!"
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased Giada's book and prepared a few of the wonderful Italian dishes for my boyfriend, who now thinks I'm a professional chef! To be honest, I had never cooked before in my life :-)

If there is a downside, it would have to be the expense. I'm a college student living on my own and didn't have most of the foods, spices, etc., needed to prepare most of these dishes, which really can add up cost wise. If you've done some cooking before, you probably already have most of the spices needed, so this shouldn't be a concern for you.
