Book Reviews of Girls in TrucksBook Review: Perfect! Summary: 5 Stars
This book was perfect. I was enthralled and entertained from the title page to the last word. Katie Crouch's writing is truly next level. This is a book I will give as a gift, recommend to friends and read over and over again. As a poet, it is rare that I find prose that appeals to me the way "Girls in Trucks" did. The work is brilliant and accessible. In a word, it is perfect.
Book Review: Depressing Summary: 1 Stars
Honestly I had to make myself finish this book. I was excited to read it since it was recommended by my best friend but I just never really could get into it. Then it all ended so terrible! I was really hoping for a truly good ending that "tied" everything up but for me, it wasn't like that at all. I was disappointed and frusterated with the Sara's really stupid choices.
Book Review: great read! Summary: 5 Stars
I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to relate to the characters (even as a man), yet I never tired of them. The author manages to mix laugh-out-loud humor with deeply poignant moments. Great tales of failed attempts at romance, struggles with family, and trying to find one's place in the world. An easy read, but far from fluff. All in all, a fabulous novel.
Book Review: A disappointment. Summary: 1 Stars
I was so disappointed in this book. Not only did I not find it "hilarious," as the prevoious professional review states, I didn't even find it funny.
The individual stories left me wishing for more information, but then the characters were so shallow that I didn't care what happened to them anyway. I won't be reading this author again.
Book Review: Avid book reader Summary: 5 Stars
I loved this book! I finished it in one afternoon. I couldn't put it down. I have lived in the South and know "the ways". This book was respectful to the culture, but at the same time, it showed the reader the life of a person who moves beyond her roots. I hope Katie Crouch is working on her next book because I can't wait to read it!
