Book Reviews of Glorious One-Pot MealsBook Review: This book is THE best! Summary: 5 Stars
I've gone to Liz's classes and finally am able to get her recipes in this gorgeous book. I use it all the time as a time-crunched working wife and it's delicious, healthy and fast. What more could we want!! My husband even ate 1/3 of the big pot eggplant with garbanzos and feta dish raw from the frig just before I was planning on taking it to a big medical ed meeting! It's a fabulous gift for weddings along with the crock pot itself. I gave out 6 books to my relatives at Christmas this past year.....you won't be disappointed I promise!
Book Review: Delicious! Summary: 5 Stars
I've tried 3 recipes so far since I received the book and they were all delicious and super easy to prepare. I'm looking forward to trying more of Gloria's recipes. I purchased a 2 quart enamel coated cast iron Dutch oven just as Gloria recommends and the meals turn out perfectly. The recipes in this book are based on using a 2 quart Dutch oven to provide a complete dinner for two adults... perfect for my husband and I. The recipes could be doubled, but of course you would need a larger Dutch oven. Effortless... tasty... healthy!
Book Review: A Great Time Saver! Summary: 4 Stars
I've had this book for about a month now and have made quite a few of the recipes included. I found that it was a great time saver as prepping the meal usually takes less than 20 minutes and then the rest is just baking time. There are a variety of meals included and you're sure to find something that sounds good to make. My only complaint would be that a lot of the recipes seems to use the same veggies (potatoes, onions, mushrooms and green beans) but as the author says, you can substite any veggies listed with others you like.
Book Review: Versatile, Easy & Author is Responsive Summary: 5 Stars
I love the fact that this book introduces a method of cooking so that along with specific recipes you learn how to use your dutch oven in a way that can produce countless variations on the recipes as well as your own creations. This makes it easier to use seasonal produce and whatever you have on hand to make healthy, tasty meals. The author is also very responsive to feedback on her web site www.gloriousonepotmeals.com I have a non-traditional dutch oven and she provided tips for adjusting the recipes to make them work well.
Book Review: I'm a Believer Summary: 4 Stars
I confess that I made mistakes and had a few disasters until I got the hang of the thing. But the longer I follow the method, the better my meals become. I love this method. I'm already adept at substitutions and several of the recipes have turned out fabulously. There is a significant amount of prep work but I've been working out how to minimize the mess as I get the meal in the pot. Now I'm working on adapting some of my favorite recipes to this method. For singles or empty-nesters, this is the way to go.
