Book Review: My Christmas Story
Summary: 5 Stars

This beautiful story of a Mother Polar Bear and her little one touched my heart. I was looking for a story that our Pastor could read at Mass on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Instead of a homily, he invites all the children to come and sit on the steps of the Altar on those times and reads them a Christmas story. He asked me to find one. With help, I found this one, and it was beautifully read by our Priest and the adults as well as the children loved it. The Mother tells the little one about the beautiful things on our earth as they travel around. The illustrations are tremendous also. It even mentions that Father Polar Bear takes care of the other little bears as Mother Bear answers questions on the journey that she and one little one take.

This is highly recommended by me as a lovely gift for any little one, especially at Christmas.

It rates 4 stars.

Book Review: A Perfect Children's Read for a Perfect Christmas Tradition!
Summary: 5 Stars

A charming Christmas story for all! Bergren wrote a wonderful story to capture the heart of children!

Bergren's mama bear character was just as charming as Little Cub! Mama bear does what most mothers would do- answer Little Cub's questions with answers that teach. She teaches Little Cub how Christmas came to be and what, or whom, the best Christmas present of all is.

My children loved listening to me read this to them. The illustrations fit perfectly into Bergren's story and really captured my children's attention!

Highly recommended to everyone who has a child curious about Santa, Christmas and God, and also to those who like charming holiday stories! I give it a 5 star rating!!!

Book Review: Explains the theological reasons behind Christmas
Summary: 5 Stars

In music I enjoy Méhdi"Christmas Treasures",Charlie Brown Christmas ,Mannheim Steamroller etc.and this a magnificent book that goes well with these CDs. Bergen offers her third entry in her popular God Gave Us series, this time focusing on explaining the broader and more philosophically complex concepts of God's and Christ's presence in the world and the theological reasons behind Christmas. Mother Bear answers questions from Little Cub about Santa and the origins of Christmas. Then the mother takes her daughter out into the wilderness to show her God's presence in nature, made visible in the northern lights and in majestic glaciers.

Also Recommended:Méhdi~Christmas Treasures,A True Gem.

Book Review: Cold outside/Warm Inside
Summary: 5 Stars

God Gave us Christmas warms as it's applied. Each page pours out rich colors and expressive characters in which adults are as welcome as their little ones. Color and fun are joined by sweet innocent comments from the little cub and her mamma.

This selection also does a wonderful job of addressing Santa Claus as being a generous and benevolent friend. Once this is expressed a seamless move takes us to the truth that God is greater than Santa. There is no controversy or sharp contrast between the mythical and the All Powerful. For households like ours, this is a tremendous balance
that is handled very well.

I can see that God Gave Us Christmas will not sit our shelf until next Christmas. We'll be seeing a year round winter and Christmas through the eyes of Little Cub.

Book Review: Beautifully rendered story focuses on the real meaning of Christmas
Summary: 5 Stars

God Gave Us Christmas by Lisa Tawn Bergren & illustrated by David Hohn is a holiday addition to the Little Cub series. Mia's review: I love Christmas! I love God too! and I love this book! My favorite part was when Mama Bear was tickling Little Cub, because it shows without speaking how God loves us. The Northern Lights are so pretty in this whole book! Now my review: The artwork in this volume is truly stellar bringing every scene to life. Mama Bear takes Little Cub on a journey to show him God and the real meaning of Christmas. Mama Bear keeps the focus on God rather than Santa without dismissing the icon. Bergren & Hohn use nature to demonstrate God's love and presence in the world in a way that young readers can easily understand. A top notch addition to the series.
