Book Reviews of God Gave Us ChristmasBook Review: Great book on the meaning of Christmas without spoiling Santa for your kids Summary: 4 Stars
In God Gave Us Christmas, Little Cub wants to know more about the origins of Christmas and has many questions for his mother about what role God and Santa Claus play into the story. Mother and Little Cub go on a trip outdoors to see and experience the handiwork of God as they discuss the meaning of Jesus' birth.
This book will be appreciated by parents who want to guide their children into understanding the purpose of the holiday without banishing Santa Claus too prematurely from their children's imagination. In this book Santa plays a bit part, whose role is to simply remind us to be compassionate and caring towards others. Jesus is the main focus and is shown to be the best present of all.
Book Review: Puts the focus on Christ Summary: 3 Stars
God Gave Us Christmas is another beautiful story in the "God Gave Us" series by Lisa Tawn Bergren.
Just in time for the holidays, this story teaches children why God is more important than Santa. Children will enjoy the colorful, rich illustrations as they follow Mama and Little Cub in their journey to see how God gave them Christmas. Mama teaches Little Cub that God is everywhere from the dancing lights in the sky to the roaring river and that He gave His son Jesus as the best Christmas present of all. This book really impressed me because it put the focus back on why we celebrate Christmas and how important the gift of Jesus is to each and everyone of us.
Book Review: A Bear Christmas Summary: 5 Stars
Have you ever wondered what bears do during Christmas? This book tells a great story of a bear family celebrating Christmas, complete with many traditions and the search for the true meaning of the celebration.
Young children will love this story as they see a mama bear baking Christmas cookies while her young bear cub asks the most important Christmas questions of all. Papa bear stays home with two younger cubs while Mama and her inquisitive cub start off on their search for answers from where Christmas came.
The artwork in the book shows beautiful northern winter sights along the journey to their destination to find the true meaning of Christmas.
Book Review: Sweet Book Summary: 5 Stars
I love reading the book by Lisa Tawn Bergren to my Grandson because it has a sweet charm about it and I am amazed with David Hohn's polar bear detailed expressions! The tender relationship between Mama Polar Bear and Little Cub teaches young hearts about the true meaning of Christmas yet keeping the balance with popular traditions in celebration with Santa. Strong questions are posed by the author and tenderly answered in showing young and old alike the beauty of God's presence that surrounds us everywhere. You will want to cozy around a warm fire and read this book aloud to your children and grandchildren while you anticipate the arrival of Christmas this year! 5+ stars!
Book Review: Santa and Jesus Summary: 5 Stars
Whenever I search for a children's book dealing with Christmas time, it's always a challenge and question on whether or not to deal with a book about Santa or about Jesus. This wonderful little treasure from Lisa's God Gave Us series makes it where there is not a choice, but just truth. Here, Mama takes time to show Little Cub in detailed images why and how God gave us Christmas and intertwines how Santa fits into the picture. I love the poetry of the prose and the pictures are fabulous and colors are wonderful to look at. I truly enjoyed sharing this story with my daughter and look forward to reading it more and more in the years to come and highly recommend it!
