Book Reviews of God Gave Us ChristmasBook Review: Great book, enjoyed by all!! Summary: 5 Stars
We had the wonderful opportunity to read God Gave Us Christmas by Lisa T. Bergren. It was a delightful story. There is a family of polar bears and Little Cub asks if Santa invented Christmas. Mama bear then explains why we have Christmas and they take a little journey. The journey that they take bring Little Cub and the readers to the conclusion that Jesus is the best present you could ever get! My kids loved the book!! The illustrations are beautiful and you begin to really feel like you are there. My preschooler and third grader were both inthralled with the story. If you are looking for a new Christmas book to read this year, this is the one you want.
Book Review: Meaning of Christmas: Jesus or Santa? Summary: 5 Stars
This book does a really great job of acknowledging the true reason we celebrate Christmas - Jesus' birth - while not downplaying any of the other holiday traditions our culture has become accustomed to. It does not say that Santa does not exist (for those fearful parents whose children still "believe") but suggests that Santa is a reminder of attributes that God cares about and wants us all to possess. The author goes further than saying "Christmas is about Jesus being born"; she also talks about who Jesus is and why God sent him to earth. I have a feeling this will become a Christmas Classic at our house - even if only because "mom" likes it!
Book Review: Enchanting Story and Beautifully Designed Summary: 4 Stars
God Gave Us Christmas is another book by Lisa Tawn Bergren that is geared toward young children and teaching a lesson. It begins with the question "Mama, who `vented Christmas?' by Little Cub to Mama Bear, which is a question many parents get at some point. Mama Bear and Little Cub then go on a journey to find the way God shows Himself to us, and see how God gave us Christmas. Once again, the illustrations are beautiful, the story is enchanting and it will make a great addition to your Christmas story book collections - especially for the little ones.

Book Review: Great story with a message Summary: 4 Stars
I really enjoy Lisa Bergren's books for kids because they are so full of beautiful illustrations and the timeless truths of God's Word written at a level where young children can understand. Look for this book to become one of your children's favorites.
In God Gave Us Christmas, I appreciate that while the book mentions Santa, the focus of the story is on God, and the gift of His Son Jesus. So often the Christmas holidays are centered on Santa and getting gifts - and many children never know the true meaning of Christmas. Another good message in this book - God is not hard to find, and when we seek Him we will find Him.
