Book Review: Perfect Christmas book for little ones!

My daughter (33mos) and I read this story last night as part of our Advent reading before bed. I absolutely LOVED it - and she did too! The story takes the focus off of the commercial aspect of Christmas, and focuses on the gift that God gave us - the true Reason for Christmas. It puts Santa in proper perspective as well - as one who reminds us about giving - which I really appreciated, since we don't "do Santa" at our house. It helps to explain to children how big our God really is and the awesomeness of the gift of Christmas. The book is not only well written but also beautifully illustrated. Lisa Bergren uses the animals made famous by the Coke commercials to tell kids about the things God gave us.
I received these two for review.
In the spirit of The Berenstain Bears, these polars bears ask the questions and it takes the entire book for their adults to answer.
The books have quality illustrations that add to the spiritual teachings found in the dialog.

This book is beautifully illustrated, and is excellent for helping young children discover the real meaning of Christmas and understand how much God loves them.

Book Review: Excellent Read!

This is one of my new favorite reads for the Christmas season (or anytime, really)! IT has a sweet, warm message. I love finding books with a true Christian theme. Santa Clause and Frosty are great, and have a place in our traditions, but it's also very important to keep a focus on the reason we celebrate Christmas in the first place. I have read this book to 4 and 5-year-olds, who enjoyed it very much. We read it two or three times in one week! They loved it each time, and I loved reinforcing the wonderful spirit of the book. I HIGHLY recommend this for children ages 3-12 (and the adults who love them)!Book Review: Wonderful Story, Great Illustrations

God Gave Us Christmas is a beautifully illustrated tale that explores the values of a Christian family in everyday life. The animal characters ask important family values questions, such as wondering if Santa or God is more important. The answers are written on a child's level, but they open up the concepts for family discussion.
I'd definitely recommend this books if you are looking for a great story to share with the little ones in your life!
