Book Reviews of God Gave Us YouBook Review: God Gave Us You Summary: 4 Stars
God Gave Us You is an adorable book about how precious little ones are to their parents. Lisa Bergen has done a lovely job with this sweet little story. I love how the book affirms children over and over again that God gave them to their parents. It is so encouraging and warm. The story helps children to feel special, especially to their parents. It would be a great book to read at bedtime or naptime. Laura Bryant has done a great job on the illustrations. They are very sweet and the variety of animals will be fun for young children to identify. Some of the bears look a little goofy to me, but I'm not an expert on polar bears. They are still cute even though they look a little bit like moles to me from time to time.
I was curious about some of the themes in the book. They are explained in a way that is appropriate for children, but it seemed that some of the concepts were a little too mature. I felt that it answered questions that young children wouldn't ask. Though I was a little thrown by some of the concepts I still thoroughly enjoyed the book. I'm interested to read some of the other books by Lisa Bergren. I'm sure they will be just as sweet.

Book Review: Children Are Gifts From God Summary: 5 Stars
God Gave Us You by Lisa T. Bergren is a wonderful children's book with a sweet, yet powerful message to our children. My husband and I have seven children, all beautiful blessings from God. As, I read this story to them I was reminded of my own pregnancies with them, and how when I held them in my arms for the first time, I felt just like this Mama Bear - full of joy knowing what a very special gift I was holding.
I loved how it portrayed her praying for her child during her pregnancy, and included the things daddies can do such as singing to and talking to baby in utero. This book will allow parents to share the love they have for their child and show them just how precious they are in the eyes of God, in a very special way.
In one small section, Mama Bear talked about they were "alone" and wanted a child. As I read it to our group of younger children, I changed that up slightly in my own words so that they all felt very special since none of them was a first child. Overall, I found God Gave Us You to be an excellent, uplifting book and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has young children.

Book Review: Another Lovely 'God Gave Us' Story Summary: 4 Stars
I love the God Gave Us series by Lisa Tawn Bergren. The stories are so sweet, and really help children understand and relate to God's gifts to the world.
God Gave Us You was no exception. Charming and poetic, Little Bear sees her worth and value to her parents and to God. She was a gift from the Lord to bless her parents and an answer their prayers. Exactly a concept I want my children to understand.
The soothing words and snuggle up story make this a perfect bedtime book.
I do have one disappointment to beef with the author though...I had to cringe when I first read the book to my children. Why? Well, most people wouldn't blink twice, but me, being an advocate for natural labor and homebirth, I utterly hated the fact that when reliving Little Bear's birth, Mama Bear rushed to the hospital at the first contraction to deliver her with a doctor. :o/
(We just change the story to Little Bear being welcomed to the world at home with a midwife! *giggle*)
Other then that, the beautiful illustrations and lovely lesson makes this book another favorite added to our God Gave Us Series!

Book Review: good book for "traditional" family Summary: 4 Stars
A sweet, simple story about the gift of a child from God. The authors cover the parents prayers for a child, to God answering and a baby growing bigger and bigger in mom's belly, to hearing the heartbeat for the first time and finally being born and coming home. Little ones are reminded every step of the way that a child is a gift from God to mom and dad. The illustrations are charming and there are few enough words on each page that my 2 year old didn't get bored as I read and yet there are enough to convey a very special message, God chooses to create families.
Only two complaints about this book, both minor. First, the book is specific about the baby growing in momma's belly meaning that this would not be a good book to demonstrate how sometimes God chooses for a family to have children by adoption. Second, momma (even though she is a polar bear) goes to the hospital to give birth, meaning that those choosing at home birth or a setting other than a hospital may want to reconsider. If neither of this situations are true for your family, then this is a great book!

Book Review: Wonderful Story! Summary: 5 Stars
God Gave Us You is a wonderful childrens book by Lisa Tawn Bergren that has great whimsical illustrations by Laura J. Bryant. The book tells the story of Little Cub and his question about where he came from one night before bedtime. Mama Cub explains to him that he was a gift from God and that she and his father were very excited to learn that he was growing inside her.
This is a great book that my son really enjoyed. It explains to children how they are special gifts from God and reassures them of just how unique and special they are.
I would highly recommend this book for any expecting parents and for parents of those up to age five. An awesome book for your children!
