Book Reviews of Godless: The Church of LiberalismBook Review: Irreverent, funny and thought-provoking Summary: 5 Stars
Ann Coulter has established a name as an intelligent and sarcastic voice of conservatism. She dishes it out with the best of them and the negative reviews posted here let you know her points are legitimate or she would be ignored.
Extensively footnoted, this book is a detailed look at some of the most egregious liberal lunacy. Chapters on the left's need to pardon violent criminals start out the book. Abortion, the left's version of a holy sacrament, is savaged next.
Feminism and the left's total control of public education are disposed of chapter by chapter. Coulter pulls no punches and insults with the best of them. This is bothersome to some but Coulter is certainly no where near as offensive as the average one-starred review here on Amazon. Intelligent design and evolution are some of the more controversial chapters. Coulter lists the who's who of prominent scientists from Einstein to the pre-eminent biologist of our day who accept intelligent design as the most reasonable explanation of things. The book ends with 20 pages of footnotes.
As entertaining as it is informative, read this for a review of today's most controversial issues.
Book Review: Creative Concept But Contains Conservative Condesention Summary: 3 Stars
I read this book by Ann Coulter for research for a novel. In this book, Coulter looks on Liberalism as a religion, which is a great concept. However, this book is basically an excuse to bash liberals. There is no effort to distinguish various variations of liberalism or even to realize that not all Democrats fit into the mold she made for them.
I will admit I'm a conservative and agree with most of Coulter's points. However, I don't think her technique accomplishes anything except entertaining those who agree with her and enraging those who don't. I found it very hard to read the book because it does have plenty of mean-spirited humor which I don't appreciate whether it is aimed at me or those I disagree with.
One comment I'll make is that the final chapters deal with the theory of evolution. I agree with the emphasis because I agree that evolution is the foundation for a lot of liberal ideas. However, I feel that Nancy Pearcey in the book "Total Truth" or Ben Stein in the video "Expelled" do a better job in dealing with the issue.
As stated, I read this book for research. It failed me in that area.
Book Review: Ann Knocks Another One Out Of The Park Summary: 5 Stars
The Bane of liberals everywhere, the vivacious Miss Coulter again unleashes her rapier wit and cunning sense of humor on American Culture and Politics.
Previously, Ann dedicated herself to exquisitely researched and referenced books on one narrow topic, yet her stunning insightfulness and sly absurdities made for a tremendous read. In Godless, she covers the liberals' duplicity on evolution, crime, punishment, education and other issues.
It's rare that an author can combine such insight with humor and still produce an incredibly readable book.
If you're a fan of Treason, Slander, and High Crimes and Misdemeanors, you can rest assured that Ann at least equals those texts, and probably quite exceeds it.
If, on the other hand, you're a liberal, wanting to know what Ms. Coulter is all about, then you should be commended, but be warned, this will be an extremely unpleasant read.
Book Review: Evolution v. Intelligent Design Summary: 5 Stars
The chapters covering evolution were the most valuable part of the book. After reading it, I begin to rethink my views on evolution. I've always considered evolution to be a science, but not anymore. But I don't consider intelligent design to be a science either. If it is being taught as a science, then that would still be wrong in my opinion. After rethinking my views on this, I think that evolution could be considered as a philosophy. It reminds me of what was said about the so called "theory of everything" in physics. This theory is not considered to be science because it can't be proved. Like the "theory of everything" in physics; evolution could someday be thought of as a "theory of everything" that applies to biology. Therefore, it would no longer be considered a science, but a philosophy instead.
Book Review: the TRUTH HURTS (snark) Summary: 5 Stars
If you enjoy base and baseless personal attacks and factually challenged rants passed off as 'political discourse', with oodles and oodles of 'endnotes' rather than 'footnotes' which provide scanty attribution for her claims and especially, if you like viciously attacking your political opponents rather than truly debating them on the issues of the day, then THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU!!!
Gosh, this was SUCH A GREAT READ! Ann Coulter just HITS THE HEAD OF EVERY NAIL! Whether she's mocking her opponent's grief at the loss of a loved one or dehumanizing them by encouraging violence against them in lieu of constructive political dialogue, then this book is a MUST READ!
Every conservative without a shred of human decency or any sense of humanity whatsoever should READ THIS BOOK!
