Book Review: A lovely, lovely tarot deck by an inspired artist

Golden Tarot is a favorite tarot deck of many for good reasons. Not only are the production values wonderful, from the gold gilt and box to the card printing quality, but the art is just magnificent. Oh, certainly, there are those who call this "derivative" art -- Kat Black montaged wonderful masterworks to create tarot symbols very in tune with the Waite system of Tarot symbols. But I don't. I know -- from experience -- that montaging is more difficult than original art when you're trying to make it look "original." Kat is a master at this. You'd hardly know -- if you weren't told -- that this is indeed a montage deck. And who cares (if these things bother you)? You can spend hours looking at the images. Since they are also derivative of tarot imagery down through the centuries -- which is important (how valuable is it to have a tarot deck with images that have nothing to do with the archetypal symbolism of the deck?) -- this is an endlessly fascinating and beautiful deck most people will collect, use and treasure. I came across this deck -- along with the other 30 plus decks I've collected -- in the course of 15 years of research into the symbolism, history and legends of the Tarot for my tarot-plotted novel The Last Troubadour. The themes Kat explores come as close to the themes in my book as I found, so this was a delightful "on my desk" deck. I highly recommend it for fun and pleasure.Book Review: Easier than Rider Waite!

This deck is so very beautiful, the box is sturdy, the booklet is a nice size and I really like the interpretations, fresh and yet very intuitive. The card stock is firm, but soon becomes easy to handle, the gold gilt edges are truly luxurious. I must say that I was pretty surprised at how reasonable the price is on this deck. I cannot imagine how this was possible, as this deck and book set seem to be of such high quality. The artwork on the cards is really gorgeous, I for one did not immediately realize that it is collaged, as each cards imagery is so well integrated. Now a confession, I buy new decks all the time ever searching for that perfect deck which I can actually figure out how to read with. Always there are a few cards which turn me off and send me back to my trusty Rider Waite. This deck is the deck I have been looking for - finally a deck that incorporates the best of RW interpretive imagery, and actually improves on it! If you are comfortable with RW - you will actually find this deck even easier to read with! I never have had such an easy time coming up with interesting insights and more in depth perceptions. Excellent Deck - Highly Reccomended!
Book Review: An Amazing Deck for an Amazing Price!

Like some of the other reviewers, I too have collected a number of tarot decks over the years, always searching for that one perfect deck. Some I've bought have come close, while others I have eventually gotten rid of for lack of interest or utility.The Golden Tarot Deck not only fulfills all I have looked for in a tarot deck, it surpasses what I have looked for. As I will use this deck primarily, I may just buy another one in case I wear this one out!
As others have already noted, I was amazed at the price for such a sumptous deck. I have bought decks that cost more than this one that were not even close to this level of execution or quality. The box the deck comes in is very sturdy and beautiful. The accompanying book slides in nicely with the cards so that you can carry both around.
As for the deck, it is richly detailed, gorgeously colored and, for, someone like me who prefers the Rider Waite icnography, this desk is both familiar and strange in that the imagery of RW is still there, but with new interpretive images and symbols that stir the imagination.
I highly recommend this deck for novices and for those who have used the tarot for years. It is a stunning piece of work and it will be hard for anyone to top both the quality of the deck and its packaging. Excellent work!

If only I could give this deck 100 stars!!The truth is, there just simply aren't enough wonderful adjectives to even come close to describing just how supremely delicious this deck really is...
Incredible collage work and design, rich extravagant colors and textures, superb packaging, gilded edges, the perfect size, perfect weight, an awesome book, a great price... Kat Black has created a certifiable masterpiece.
How such an incredible deck could be sold for so little is nothing short of astonishing. I would easily expect to pay twice as much for this deck, and had I done so, I would still not be disappointed.
These cards will absolutely sing to you with meaning and radiance. The love that Kat poured into this work is clearly evident on each and every card in this amazing deck. I have no doubt that new tarot decks will be measured against this deck for a long time to come.
If you buy just ONE tarot deck in your life, make it this one!
Well worth the nearly 2 years that many of us have been waiting to see this deck transformed to print.
Many, many, many kudos to Kat and US Games for absolutely the most beautiful tarot deck I have ever seen!! A wonderful deck, from a wonderful person. Bravo!

This tarot card deck is the best I've ever seen, which isn't really saying anything, but . . . beginniners and experts alike will drool over these absolutely beautiful cards. They have a golden gilt edge and a pretty brown backing. Each card is a digital collage of European paintings from 1200 to 1500 A.D. After taking the basic designs from the beloved Rider-Waite deck, these breathtaking scraps of paintings are digitally put together to form a eerily amazing tarot card, with lush backdrops, beautiful people, and the most accurate, satisfying detail. The cards are easy to interpret and satisfyingly accurate. And here's the best part; it's digital, but you CANNOT tell!! Each card is it's own unique masterpiece. If you are looking for enchantingly beautiful tarot cards, then buy these right away. Now about the book. OK, if you are a real beginner, get another book along with this kit. The book includes the meaning of each card, three spreads, and other helpful tidbits, but it doesn't have seriously thorough, clear instructions for confused beginners. But still,this buy is totally worth it. Buy it, and you will definetly be extremely satisfied with this phenomenal deck. :)
