Book Review: An Amazing New Tarot set destinted to become a classic

I buy a lot of Tarot decks and end up turning around and selling many of them when they don't live up to my expectations, but the Golden Tarot by Kat Black is a keeper. What an amazing deck!The collage work is nearly seamless and, because the images are taken from paintings rather than photographs, it doesn't look like a collage deck at all. It looks like someone discovered a series of Renaissance paintings on the subject of Tarot! And as others have mentioned, the symbolism is similiar enough to RWS that anyone familiar with that classic should be comfortable with this deck right out of the box.
The cards themselves are smooth and silky-feeling and strong enough to hold up to use, without being overly stiff. The gilt edges give the deck a rich look. And I LOVE the packaging US Games has come up with for this set and hope they use this design in the future! The box is sturdy and attractive and easy to use without mangling the cards getting them in and out. And the book, while small compared to a "real" book, is MUCH larger and more comprehensive than the typical LWB that accompanies most decks.
If I could give this set more than 5 stars, I would!
Book Review: Beautiful representation of history and digital integration

The art integration also refreshes and revisits art for fans of old Medieval to Renaissance. If you wanted your own set of personal gilded minatures for tarot enjoyment and storytelling, this is a fascinating collector item. I found it as an affordable visual tour of International Gothic art, worthy of many museum stores. Kat Black gives an excellent image source description in her well-done minature book.Trumps and minors draw from backgrounds and beautiful historic sites in Europe, including historic monument such the Schifanioa Palace of Ferarra. The digital integration of many sources is done so seamlessly, I see each card as an independent work of art. I can well believe it took some 1600 hours to complete the deck.
After a few uses, you will find some of the gilted edges have a bit of dust at the edges of the book or cards. If you are not allergic to this, this is a very minor nit. However I've encountered people who need to know this before buying products with metallic residue.

What additional well-deserved praise can I lavish on this lovely Tarot? Even within the Suits themselves, no two cards are alike -- not even remotely.
Each card is a unique work of art.
I purchased this deck (my 9th, since beginning reading Tarot 13 years ago) last week. I still have not done an actual reading because I am taking my time studying, absorbing and just plain ENJOYING each card. Frankly, the entire deck is so brilliantly gorgeous I'm not sure I can bring myself to actually fanning and shuffling them! But of course I will.
And rest assured the deck stays true to traditional Tarot.
This is well worth the price -- and that is an understatement.
My only "nitpicks" are the Queen of Cups (no blue or blue-green?) card, and in the 2 of Cups the infant has what seems a genuinely peevish expression towards the older child who is reading a book. Generally traditional Tarot images for the 2 of Cups (in my experience anyway) show children absorbed in their own easy tasks or gently regarding one another.
Am looking forward to working with this Tarot.
Book Review: Simply Amazing

As a fan pf the Rider Waite Tarot, I was always looking for a classy deck, that had an old feel to it, with the images used in the RWT. After searching high and low, and many disappointments I finally came upon the Golden Tarot.
This is truly an amazing deck, the art work (a collage of Renaissance Paintings) is beautiful, and looking at the deck carefully you would never think they were collages, they look as if they were painted that way.
The edges of the Deck are Gold, like those old bibles Grandma us to have, the size of the deck is standard, and are a little ruff at first, but with use they become more comfortable. This is one of those decks that are going to look better as it ages. When you give people readings, this is the deck that gets remarks of how beautiful they are. For the really affordable price, this is one of those decks you have to add to your collection.
For those who work with the RWT, this deck will be very easy to interpret, as the images are very familiar. I highly recommend this deck. Great Job Kat, this deck surly deserves the title as one of the most beautiful.

I became interested in these cards because I bookmarked the authors web site and I really enjoy her site. The cards and book come in a nice box, making it convenient for travel and display. I appreciate the explainations of how the cards came to be and the differences from her original set compared to this one, on her website. The cards are a little larger than I am used to when it comes to handling them. I'm thinking with more use they will get easier to shuffle. I like the backs and golden edge. I have another deck that I am more intuitive with for my personal readings, but I think these are nice for readings in general, be it for myself or someone else, because I don't use my personal deck for other people. I think the pictures are neutral enough that readings for others would not be intimidating, (some people interpret Tarot in fearful way even when they are fascinated by it). Over all, I look forward to working with this deck and becoming more in tune with it, and I would recommend anyone interested to use the website as well as the books, it's quite lovely.
