Book Reviews of Golden Tarot DeckBook Review: A good purchase. Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this deck based mostly on the reviews I read here. The cards are rather good quality. The gold edges haven't flaked or chipped after 100's of shuffles. The paper is thick. The card art itself is a nice matte finish, and hasn't rubbed or chaffed away.
I only have a few minor complaints. The cards are large, the deck is heavy, and it can be abrasive to shuffle (the edges, not corners, are sharp). The book is small, and doesn't open well, and the information within is not as comprehensive as I would like.
Fortunately there's 1000's of alternative sources for information.
For what I paid, this deck is a steal. Easily my favorite tarot deck at this time.
Book Review: Goodbye, cliched coffee-table art book; hello, Tarot deck! Summary: 5 Stars
I agree with other reviewers in this space that Golden Tarot is a gorgeous piece of work, with obvious care and regard powering its smart, seamless execution. The International Gothic collages and accompanying booklet will inspire anyone who loves art and meaning, not just Tarot enthusiasts.
I enjoy having the Golden Tarot out on the coffee table-- like an art book, but I prefer this format. Being able to play with and interpret new juxtapositions of the deck's evocative, meaning-laden images enables a brain-jogging, interactive experience that bound, sequential art books cannot provide-- unless you cut them up, but who wants to do that?
Also, it takes up much less room...
Book Review: Great deck!! Summary: 5 Stars
It's my favorite for it's color, design, and ease of use!
I am a beginner in the Tarot and have gone through most of the websites and browsed through the books, in search of the tarot that best appeals to me. And I found the Golden Tarot to be the best! I still use the Universal Tarot (by de Angelis) which I think would be easier for the beginner in terms of ease of use but the Golden Tarot is like the one I am aiming to use once I become a more proficient Tarot reader. The only thing against it is the size which can make it difficult to shuffle. But otherwise it's a great deck. Browse through the website of Kat Black: http://www.goldentarot.com for a closer look.
Book Review: Remarkable Deck!/Visionaryprophetdaniel Summary: 4 Stars
First off I agree with reviewers: Dr.Mary G,J.Boyer,El.Brujo regarding the deck's beauty and Kat's artwork;however since I am skin-sensitive to actual gold which gives me a second degree burn in the skin. I would have to use latex gloves to handle the cards per se. However after reviewing the deck I was pleased by its artwork and beauty including the gold edges. The book has a good Horseshoe Spread I like which I would like to include in my revised edition of my spreadbook under revision now...And I will give credit to Kat in my books under manuscript now as I have over 90 tarot kits in my research drawers now. This is rated by me as a beginners tarot to start with..Buena Suerte!!!
Book Review: I finally found my deck! Summary: 5 Stars
I can't tell you how many decks I have looked that just didn't "resonate" with me! The traditional Rider-Waite was just too ugly for me, and some other decks were just too weird or out there for me. This deck combines my love of art with tarot, and it is perfect for me. The box that it comes in is perfect to keep the cards in (no need for a different box or tarot bag), the book that comes with it is thorough and she gives ideas for spreads and what the cards mean in both upright and reversed position. She offers a lot of insight into the cards and the process of their creation. My only complaint (no big deal to me) is that the cards are hard to shuffle.
