Book Reviews of Golden Tarot DeckBook Review: Not for beginners Summary: 3 Stars
This is a beautiful deck of cards, no question about it. However, it really deviates from the Rider/Waite deck which is what most books are written on. So, if you want to learn the tarot, this is not the deck for you. If you already know the tarot, then this deck will surely impress those who come to you for a reading, especially if they know nothing about the subject.
So, as soon as I received this deck along with the book 78 degrees of wisdom by Rachel Pollack, I knew I made a mistake in the selection of my first deck. My only regret in buying this deck was the timing. I am happy to own it, but not learn from it.
Book Review: Some kind of destiny Summary: 5 Stars
I was always told that I couldn't just go out and find a Tarot deck, that it would have to come to me. Well after a year of casually browsing and buying some absolutely horrible duds, I walked into a local bookstore and found this deck staring at me from a shelf. I am so in love. It's incredibly beautiful, with rich symbolism that evokes you to find your own reflections. The accompanying book is very well-written and helpful, and has aided me immensely in my study of these cards. I *would* recommend this to everyone I know, but I still like feeling special as the one with the best deck by far :)
Book Review: A USER FRIENDLY TAROT DECK Summary: 5 Stars
The Golden Tarot is certainly the most beautiful of all the vailable Tarot decks. The author, Kat Black, has utilized the art of the late Middle Ages and early Rennaisance to put together a Tarot deck which reflects the familiar Rider-Waite
deck in content. The images and colors are of a very high standard. Ms. Black has exercised infinite patience and great taste in selecting the various art work for the cards. The accompanying booklet is succinct and comprehensible. I recommend this deck to the serious collector of Tarot decks as well as to the beginner. It is tops.
Book Review: Absolutely wonderful deck. Summary: 5 Stars
This deck is soft, beautiful and absolutely worth the price. I was stunned by Kat Black's work on this deck: so fine, so careful, you can tell she just loves what she does.
I agree it is annoying seeing the "USGames" words in every card, it takes a little from the work Black has done, I wonder if they coulnd't find any other place to put their brand on. It seems a little disrespectful of the artist's work to me too.
In sum: it is a beautiful deck, with powerful symbolism, and definetly not a "flavour of the month" deck. This one's a keeper.
Book Review: Simplistic imagery is great for beginners Summary: 3 Stars
This is a deck I can't say I particularly care for. The cards are pretty, but I prefer the Williams Renaissance tarot instead. But it's rather a beginners deck, the lack of symbolic imagery is woefully missing for an intermediate to advanced read.
Colours are ok, nothing striking, but really rather clichey, lots of black and gold. If you go to the artists website you can see the whole thing including version 1 which was even simplier in design. This is a really nice deck for those scared of the tarot and want an easy deck to start with though.
