Book Reviews of Gonzo: The Life of Hunter S. ThompsonBook Review: it IS for us to judge Summary: 3 Stars
Re Jann's anithesis--suicide is an act of violence against the people who love you. HST blew his head off while on the phone to someone who cared for him deeply. That gory mess had to be cleaned up by someone. There was also a small child in the house at the time. What a legacy. What a selfish creep.
Book Review: Great insight into the life of HST Summary: 5 Stars
It is hard to understand every aspect of the life of HST. "Gonzo" does a great job of discribing HST on all levels, as a writer, father, friend and madman. The passages from Hunter's ex-wife prove to be very interesting and show how his drug problems would in the end hurt his writing.
Book Review: boring Summary: 1 Stars
I loved the good Doc's ESPN columns, his Vanity Fair, Playboy and Examiner columns because he lamented the end of the American Century but still make us laugh. So the relentless focus on the negative in this "oral biography" gets really boring. Too bad.
Book Review: Fear & Loathing Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great read for any HST fan. It is interesting to see how much his life affected everyone he ever came into to contact with. From his wives all the way to Marilyn Manson.
Book Review: boring Summary: 1 Stars
You'd think that what is essentially a biography of one of the greatest writers in our time would at least be well written. It's not.
