Book Reviews of Goodnight Bush: A ParodyBook Review: A grown up MOON Summary: 5 Stars
The original book was her first one, a gift, for my daughter and we grew weary reading it over and over and 'finding' the hidden changes as we turned the pages engaged in the sing song lyrics. We gifted her with this parady, now a college student and we all were enthused with the depiction of the Bush years in the original style of the book. True to her youthful enthusiasm, she couldn't wait to get back to school and share it with her friends. A very interesting read!
Book Review: A well thought-out parody. Summary: 4 Stars
These days, the die-hard Bush dead-enders' number has dwindled to an insignificant minority. It is not just safe but in fact profitable to speak the truth.
Although this book comes a little late to the Bush-bashing party, it is reasonably well done and I do enjoy spending two minutes flipping through it. The issues it touches upon are both broad and serious, however. I don't think my six-year-old son will get them. This is strictly for adults.
Book Review: Great Book Summary: 5 Stars
Great book. This book has the enlightening quality of inviting you to look at the events of the past 8 years through childrens' eyes. All of the horror and humor this book evokes is conjured with such naked simplicity, it's hard to imagine a more appropriate historical record for this administration. The illustrations compliment the text with potent imagery and symbolism. There's a lot of detail that may go unnoticed at first glance...look closely.
Book Review: Funny and scary Summary: 5 Stars
Goodnight moon is a simple bedtime tale of a child saying goodnight to everything around. Goodnight Bush is a perfect parody with a bedtime tale saying goodnight to everything our current administration had wrought. The art is perfect and the book, which will take five minutes to read, will capture with pinpoint sarcasm just how badly this country has fared in the last eight years. Funny, yet frightening. This is one night we will want to be over.
Book Review: Laugh Out Loud Funny Summary: 5 Stars
Not politically correct, but a great parody nonetheless - if you aren't a fan of Bush and Cheney. The author takes a classic, quiet tale and maintains the soft tone while substituting modern day relevancy and a few digs at the Bush administration. No profanity or inappropriate references, this book is safe even for kids to read even though the nuances are clearly aimed at adults who have been following modern politics.
Hilarious.
