Book Review: Great Gift

I bought this book (2) as a Christmas gift for my daughters. The oldest opened hers first, she thought is was great since we watch Gordon's shows every Sunday morning. My other daughter gave a disappointed Ooooo...but screamed when she opened hers.
The recipes look very easy, no elaborate directions and ingredients can be easily substituted if originals are not available. Love the step by step layout of the recipes. The photos are great of the dishes too. My daughters loved the bonus DVD.

If you like Gordon Ramsay (or even if you don't know who he is) but think his recipes are too hard for a normal household cook, this book is for you! He takes some really simple dishes and makes them look like something prepared in a 3 Michelin Star restaurant. He has pictures to show how the dishes should look for presentation purposes and he's very succinct and to the point. He also takes more elegant recipes and makes them so it's food that we can do at home. Well worth the purchase!!Book Review: Nice recipes, but maybe too complicated for an 'easy' book.

I love watching his BBC show, so I was excited to get one of his books. He always makes cooking look so easy, but these recipes are a little complicated. I was hoping for more basic recipes, but a lot of them are more appropriate for dinner parties and entertaining, not a basic dinner meal. There are a few I will use, but most of these recipes will probably go unused. Some of the basic kitchen lessons, pantry list sections are useful, I'll probably use this book the most for that.Book Review: Great Cookbook

I am very pleased with the purchase of the Gorden Ramsay makes it easy cookbook. I have tried some recipes and they all turned out great. A lot of the recipes require fresh seafood which is a hard thing to find in the small town I live in and I live 6 hours away from the ocean so I am forced to buy frozen. (I can see Ramsay frowning right now...lol)
Overall I think its a great cookbook! It's nice to try something new.

I've got a shelf full of cookbooks, and this has joined the pantheon of ones I use. Since I cook every meal at home --unless it's to go out to a really good restaurant (unfortuantely, I'm surrounded by chains), cookbooks are essential. What I like: the emphasis on basic and fresh ingredients, the layout, the handy CD, the lack of fussiness and also how one can create wonderful dishes with the most basic of kitchen tools.
