Book Reviews of Green for LifeBook Review: Green Smoothies for a Healthy Life Summary: 5 Stars
I am so thankful for the day I was given the book "Green for Life". The information in this book is invaluable. Green smoothies have given me my life back. I was living in so much pain, frequent visits to the doctor for treatments for migraines, backaches, and stomach aches and no one could tell me what was wrong with me. After one week of drinking green smoothies, the migraines went away, and the other pain diminished drastically. I honor and respect Victoria Boutenko for sharing her family's miracle with the world - it is truly an ongoing inspiration. My father had surgery due to colon cancer - five months after the surgery he was still having problems with the surgery site on his abdomen. He was getting sharp stabbing pain - after drinking green smoothies for two weeks he reported to me that the pain went away. I believe the rest of my father's life will be healthier because of the additional nutrients he is ingesting via green smoothies. Fruits and greens will be my main diet always.
Book Review: Why green smoothies? They'll make you healthy Summary: 5 Stars
I've tried every type of diet known to man, and I have finally found the answer with green smoothies. I've had all kinds of health problems, but now I see that what my body really needs is more greens. Victoria Boutenko is so thorough in her research and her approach. Her advise about dealing with the other people in your life and outside temptation is also so helpful. Also be sure to read "Twelve Steps to Raw Foods". Whether you can make a drastic change in your diet or just add smoothies to your usual eating, you're going to see a difference in your health and well-being. I am able to add even more greens than she suggests in her recipes. I pack my VitaMix full of kale, collards and spinach and zip them with two cups of water. Then I add two apples and two pears. It's so delicious, I drink it all day long, and I'm never hungry for "bad stuff". If I miss a day of smoothies I really feel it. Now I'm trying to find a blender I can use on my trips to Europe. Any suggestions?
Book Review: I don't have ezcema anymore! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is great! I bought it after a coworker reccommended it. It's helped me so much that my parents, grandmother, uncle make green smoothies and they pass it along to their friends. I have had ezcema (or so all my dermatologists and allergists have said) for over 9 years. I've tried multiple creams, steroid creams and other junk and it has not helped. After reading Green For Life I started making green smoothies. It's been a year and I no longer have ezcema. I'll make green smoothies about once a month ( I'm lazy about making them). If I go too long without a green smoothie i start itching again. They actually taste good and are good for a "snack" during the day. I haven't actually followed any of Victoria's recipes. My favorite is a few handfulls of spinach, two apples and some cinnamon and a bit of water. It tastes just like cinnamon apples. This is a good book and green smoothies are an excellent way to incorporate more fresh greens and fruits into your diet.
Book Review: Disappointed Summary: 2 Stars
I don't write many reviews but had to in this case.
I would not call this a book, but more like a large phamplet. It contains 166 pgs of which only 7 are the green smoothie recipes. Testimonials consist of 45 pgs., thats right 45, way overdone to provide verbage where the rest of the book is lacking.
There is very little substance to this 'book'. The obvious message is to consume more greens through the use of smoothie drinks and the author gives very few facts to back up the claims. Though I have never doubted the need to consume far more greens, I wanted to learn of more factual information.
I also wanted to see lots of recipes with variety. I was left disappointed there.
I never did find any credentials for the author, Victoria Boutenko. I only assume they are good and she is a knowledgeable nutritionist of some sort. But the facts are lacking in this book, would like to see more detail.
I cannot recommend the book.
Book Review: Very disapointing book...who is this woman? Summary: 1 Stars
I ordered this book from Amazon and I was very disapointed. First of all, there is no educational background listed for the author. The only thing in this book that even smells of anyone having a college education is the foreword which is written by a psychatrist!!! The rest of the book is filled with testimonials, such as asking person after person how their eliminations (color, consistency, and yes, smell) changed after drinking green smoothies, as well as a person who had a strange growth on their nose that fell-off after they drank green smoothies. There are a few pages with green smoothie recipes that are favorites of some of her family members. Save yourself some money; if you want to make green smoothies, buy a Vitamix or Blendtec blender, put in your favorite fruits, a banana, some ice, and either chard, spinach, or kale, and blend away. If you want to add some fiber, throw in some flax seed or wheat germ. Don't waste your money on this book!
