Book Review: Guess How Much Your Child Won't Love This Book
Summary: 3 Stars
We love to read at our house. Everyone gathers around and we turn the pages together. We laugh, we pretend to cry when characters cry, and we throw this book far, far away. At least, my son does.
The primary problem with this book are the illustrations. They are not very engaging to a child. They are very plain and boring. The cover's illustration is a good illustration for what is inside. If you like it, you might not hate this book.
The secondary problem with this book are the words used. The complexity of some of the words and the stubmling rhythm makes them harder to understand and/or follow for the child than many other books that we have.
Where this book shines (and it's what some people hate about the book) is the content of the message. The big bunny has the capacity to show how much he loves his little child in bigger ways than the child can initially imagine. And it's very true with our own children (although arguably). We love them more than they can comprehend.
Sadly, the message just isn't coming across for us during reading time because it's simply not engaging enough for our little one. He'll drop it and chase after something more colorful and rhythmic (I Love You Through and Through is currently his favorite).
