Book Reviews of Ham Radio For DummiesBook Review: Not much of a "Reference" Summary: 1 Stars
This book has no questions and answers for the FCC test. It only answers the most basic of newbie questions, and certainly is NOT a "Reference for the Rest of Us" as many of the "Dummies" books can be. I would not recommend this book for anyone except the least literate and most technically-challenged among us...not exactly what Ham Radio really needs to have as members. I wish I hadn't bought it.
Book Review: Great Reference Book Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this book while I was studying for the ham exam. I had no prior knowlege of ham operations. I read it cover-to-cover while studying an exam refernce publication at the same time. I did not find this book extremely helpful for the exam itself, but it provided plain-English explanations of ham concepts which I did find very helpful. Bottom line: I don't regret spending the money for it.
Book Review: A Great Hobbie Made Easy Summary: 5 Stars
I loved this book. If you are learning about ham radio and what it is, this is an excellent book. The dummy series never lets you down, they have great info and make it easy to read. They also tell you what to pay attention to. I have this book in my library and will never give it up. If you are interested in the hobbie of ham radio, this is one of the book you will want to own.
Book Review: Ham Radio for Dummies Summary: 5 Stars
A great primer for the beginner who wants to learn the basics. Easy to read and understand. The author not only knows his "stuff" but conveys it in plain language. Helpful hints in getting started in ham radio and where to go for detailed specific information was very helpful in getting started in this wonderful hobby. Recommended reading to get started in ham radio.
Book Review: Super book for new Ham. Summary: 5 Stars
While written for new hams, old timers can gain a lot from this book. Complete discussion of everything you should know before getting your station on the air. My 14 year old son loves the book; says it helps him sound like he knows what he is doing on the air and takes away the fear of making a gaff. Great book for new comers.
