Book Reviews of High NoonBook Review: Liked it! Summary: 4 Stars
It amazes me that after what, 100+ books?, Nora Roberts can continue to create new characters and new storylines. Phoebe MacNamara and Duncan Swift are two of my favorites so far. I liked their easy report with each other, and the way their relationship wasn't the big drama in the story. There was a really obvious red herring in the story, but it didn't really take away from anything. Overall, another Nora classic!
P.S. The Lifetime movie was actually pretty decent, too. I haven't been impressed with most of them.
Book Review: Favorite Summary: 5 Stars
I am a reader, i read every type of books and magazines. But in Nora Roberts' High Noon, i found all my favorite things. Mystery, Romance, Drama, Passion, Family and Love. that book includes something for every body. if you love the bad boy there is a careless ex-husband,a chauvinistic police officer, and an avenging lover boy. there is the romantic multimillionaire, the lawyer best friends there is also something that make the book more relate-able to real life and even though there is a happy ending it is not like a fairytale.
Book Review: Ho hum.... Summary: 2 Stars
Nora Roberts can write in a variety of 'voices.' This time she writes about Phoebe MacNamara, hostage negotiator. The ultimate climax of the tale is when Phoebe is at the center of a negotiation. What brings her there is a long boring story. Explaining the ultimate direction of the book by its end is so far fetched. The characters, by and large, are somewhat simple and don't hold your interest. Where there might be a plot line to explore, it meets a dead end time after time.
Wish it had been better.
Book Review: High Noon Summary: 3 Stars
There was a lot of action in this book. More drama than romance. And a lot of boring stuff too. The story is more centered around Phoebe's job than Duncan, unfortunately. I loved Duncan, and wanted to read more about them together.
The dialogue was something that I couldn't ignore. I disliked it. It was kind of annoying the way they talked. Who talks like that?
Book Review: First-time Nora Roberts reader Summary: 5 Stars
High Noon is the very first Nora Roberts book I have read and I have a lot of reading to catch up on if all of her books are like this one. I'm not an eloquent critic but I loved the relationship between Phoebe and Duncan. The story had the perfect amount of romance, humor, and suspense to keep me from putting it down.
