Book Reviews of Hold TightBook Review: no need for seat buckle with this book Summary: 2 Stars
i found harlan coben summer of 08. I so enjoy his works because he does not write a lot of blood and guts. His stories are easy to read, have some interest with sub plots and an easy vocabulary.
this one is a little boring. Do like the idea of GPS in phones for parents of teen age kids. True life has "pharma" parties. I think it was too predicable, too many pages, and too suburbia. nice to have the dad as the hero, instead of a mother, as in a lot of books. try again mr coben
Book Review: more is not better Summary: 1 Stars
When I stopped reading halfway through the book, there were four plots going on--the missing son, the sadistic murderer, the girl whose teacher was mean to her, and the woman with the sick kid. When i turned the page at around 200 and the name of one of the 20(?) minor characters appeared, i'd had enough. i couldn't remember if she was a new character or not, and i didn't care. this author can write, but someone should have told him to shorten the novel by 100 pages and simplify the story.
Book Review: CONFUSING Summary: 2 Stars
Although Harlan Coben has written many great books, this one left me cold. The premise is great but he invites too many characters too soon into the mix and you find yourself looking back to see who that person was earlier in the book. He also doesn't let you know much about the myriad of characters because there are just too many of them. I had to put the book down and come back again and again (which is something I never do) because I was tired of not being able to stay interested.
Book Review: Twisted Summary: 5 Stars
I had been yearning for a suspense thriller I could not put down. This is it. I read this book cover to cover on a flight from Newark to Honolulu. Then I felt a bit of remorse for getting reading entertainment from a story that involves so much pain for some of the characters. Setting that aside, this is a captivating and terrifying thriller that you cannot put down. All of the intertwined plots come together at the end, but I doubt anyone will figure them all out until the end.
Book Review: Mailed this one in Summary: 1 Stars
All through this book I kept thinking that I'd read it before... and then I realized that it was because it was absolutely identical to his previous works. Same characters (maybe with different names), same plot, same twist. As another reviewer said, if you've never read one of his books you may like this one, but otherwise it was a waste of time. I hope that this is an aberration, and that the author is not turning into the Clive (read one, read them all) Cussler of mysteries.
