Book Reviews of Honeymoon in Purdah: An Iranian JourneyBook Review: journey to enlightenment Summary: 4 Stars
Wearing's remarkable sense of humour and love for the human race make this book a must-read. Especially at a time when North American's perspective of Middle Easterners is tainted by the sensationalist media, Honeymoon in Purdah is a refreshing unbiased view of Iranian culture and life. Unlike so many ethnocentric North Americans, Wearing views people as people, and because of this the reader is able to appreciate the foibles and intricacies of humanity in general.
Book Review: She takes me there Summary: 4 Stars
Read this book. It is short, funny and utterly charming. You will soon feel as if you, too, have travelled with the kind and welcoming Iranians; as if you have worn a long black coat in 40 degree weather; as if you have been "made over" by a harem of veiled women. Alison Wearing is fearless. Like me, you will no longer have to regret your fear of visiting a challenging country like Iran. Alison takes you there.

Book Review: A Journey into the Iranian People Summary: 5 Stars
Ms Wearing takes you into the heart and souls of people in Iran without ever leaving your home. She has such a beautiful way of describing the people and their stories that she met during her journey through the country. Her sense of humor in the situations she gets herself into makes you laugh out loud. I hope to hear more traveling stories from Alison Wearing in the years to come.
Book Review: First book our club all agreed on Summary: 5 Stars
In almost 3 years of gathering, this was the first book our book club universally loved. Some loved it because it is a travelogue, some because of the suspense, some because of the humor, and others because it is an inside glimpse into another culture. I have purchased this book and recommended it to many people. It is a very enjoyable read.
