Book Reviews of How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?Book Review: Preschoolers love this story Summary: 5 Stars
Although a fan of author Jane Yolen, I was not familiar with this book until one of my preschoolers brought it to school. Overall, the children immediately loved the rhyming, sing-songy text and they were quickly "reading along" on their own. As can be the magic of a good book, the children read it to each other over and over. It appealed more to the younger 3 and 4 year olds (the older 4s and 5s are looking for a little more depth to their stories). I am interested to see if the other books in the series hold equal appeal.
Book Review: Love this book! Summary: 5 Stars
My girls and I love this book! It is the perfect rhyming book with ample opportunities to add life to it while you read. My girls love to stomp their feet on the floor, and we all stop when we get to "does a dinosaur" and real loud all three of us ROAR and they get such a kick out of that. They also like to show me the Mama and the Daddy at different points. We also have the clean up book and that is equally as good. And the illustrations are fantastic. A HUGE fan of this author/illustrator and I HIGHLY recommend this book.
Book Review: Dinosaurs act up at bedtime too! Summary: 5 Stars
This imaginative book features a large cast of "real" dinosaurs acting as naughty as real kids do when it's bedtime. I loved the pictures of exasperated parents as a huge brontosaurus throws covers on the floor or a tyrannasaurus rex runs around the room. My second grade niece, a good reader, handles the text with ease but isn't too old to be tickled by the concept. Younger siblings like this one too. Inside the front cover is a chart with small drawings of the characters and their scientific names--an educational bonus!
Book Review: Story Time Crowd Pleaser! Summary: 5 Stars
This is an excellent bedtime book for young children, as well as a great read aloud book for a library or preschool. The premise of the book, dinosaurs acting just like human children at bedtime, appeals to the sense of humor of young children. The illustrations show huge dinosaurs throwing tantrums, giving goodnight kisses and curling up in their tiny, child-sized beds. Other fun elements include pet dogs, human parents and their own childish artwork displayed on their bedroom walls. A completely charming book.
Book Review: A Must for Dinosaur Lovers of All Ages Summary: 5 Stars
What an incredible book! With it's endearing poetry, beautiful illustrations, and laugh out loud descriptions of bedtime dodging tactics, it's an A+ all around. My two year old son has swiftly learned all the names of the dinosaurs in the story and loves to say them as we work our way through. We first heard this story at our local library's preschooler story time -- the parents present laughed out loud almost more often than the kiddies did! Definitely on my "must have" list of toddler books!
