Book Reviews of How to Boil WaterBook Review: My Perfect Cookbook Summary: 5 Stars
I picked this book up on a whim one night! It was an amazing decision on my part, I must admit! I am a novice cook with a desire to learn but it seemed that every time I'd look through recipes in other cookbooks, I'd end up closing them right back up either out of a lack of ingredients, comprehension or intimidation! In the short time I've had this book, I've made five recipes which have each been stunning! People say to me they never knew I could cook before! And I am amazed at how well I CAN COOK!
Just one little note on the Thai noodle dish... Please use gloves when handling the jalapeno! They didn't warn me that my fingers would be burning for at least 10 hours! With that said, go buy this book! It's hands down the best cookbook I've ever had!
Book Review: My favorite cookbook Summary: 5 Stars
The only other cookbook I've tried is Betty Crocker. I've also tried a number of recipes from different websites (epicurious, food network, all recipes, etc.).
Every recipe I've tried from this book was absolutely delicious and full of flavor and I am far from a good cook. The flank steak I made tasted like it was from a restuarant.
I am trying out a vegan diet for a month right now and went to this book because other recipes I've tried tended to be kind of bland. The roasted potatoes and tomato salsa I made last night were so yummy that I had to write this review today. The "know-how" tips are very helpful. Great book for beginners or those of us who have never shined in the kitchen. You'll be a star with this book!
Book Review: A must have for both beginners and others in cooking Summary: 5 Stars
I got this book a few days ago randomly because well I like the Food Netword and it looked good. I figured it would go on my shelf like the other cookbooks and I'd have new recipes to work from. Then I opened it...it not only gives you some great recipes but it also (as others have said) gives you basic insight and instructons on how to shops, where to put the food in the fridge, how to pick a meat, how to cut things and what you need in your kicthen to cook. You really cannot get better than that. I started cooking when I met my now husband and sure I've cooked but this book brings it to a whole new level and really does answer the questions I just never really knew (like where to store things in the fridge!!!)
Book Review: The Book I've Needed Summary: 5 Stars
I like to eat - other people's cooking. This can be a problem as friends sometimes expect you to reciprocate and invite them over for more than beer and peanuts. Thanks to this book, I was actually able to have a dinner party - well two friends - over to the house on Saturday and feed them a roast chicken and green salad. That may not sound like much to you but it was a big deal to me. The nice thing about this book is that it doesn't make you feel stupid even if you know nothing about cooking. For know nothings like me, it can start you at the beginning, but if you already have your four standby recipes it looks as if it could help you double or triple that number. I recommend it for everyone.
Book Review: This book saved my life! (and possibly my boyfriend's too!) Summary: 5 Stars
This book is too good to be true!!! I always used to eat takeout and very unhealthy because I didn't know HOW to cook - I couldn't even fry an egg!! If you are a beginner who loves food and wants to know how to cook in very simple (think 3rd grade level!), visualized steps this is the book for you. My boyfriend used to tell me that his college roommate had asked him how to boil water and I would laughed. After reading this book I realized I wasn't too far off from knowing how to boil water. It not only gives you the recipes but HOW to cook them and how to handle, store and buy all the foods needed in the recipes. This book changed my life and how I look at food!
